Do you agree with the above quote?

Let me put it in a more generic way: Do you believe it is better to have something, and then lose it and know you can never get it back, or is it better to simply never have had that thing at all?

Personally, I think the latter is better. If you are never exposed to something, you can't regret it. Too much of my time has been spent regretting, and the fact that you can't do anything about it or change anything...at least if you never had that thing, you never could have made a mistake to/with it.

It's why I hate hind sight. It makes me feel stupid looking at past errors.

Too much of that kind of thinking will make you too afraid to experience life, Firetail. You gotta experience all you can in order to learn, or else you will stop in time. If you did something you regret, then learn to not do it again. If you were embarrassed about an event that you feel foolish about, then look back on that moment and laugh. Tell a friend about it, and most of the event will disappear. You will even feel better about getting it off your chest.

The quote speaks truth. At least you knew what that experience was like. You cannot shut yourself away from all sorts of things you are afraid to get hurt from.

I hate hind sight

I can't even go back and look at tests.
They tell us to do that, but I don't. I'm sick of the test; I don't want to go back over it again.

So I agree with this quote.

I prefer the former for the exact same reasons as Freakenstein. You can apply this to your entire life. My life experience so far, has shown me that it has been much better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved before. While this doesn't apply to any romantic relationships (I'm fourteen, what do you expect?) it does apply to other things.

I take pride in being able to learn from my mistakes. No matter what, I have always been determined to soldier on. If the **** hits the fan, I'll find a way to fix it.

I dunno sometimes i look over all the ****y things i have done. It isn't fun and i usualy do something stupid the next day (i look ovr my life be4 i go to sleep usualy).

I think it's good to look at past errors but not dwel on em.

Making a mistake and learning from it is part of being human. We would not grow as individuals if we didn't fail, weather in life or love. If it weren't for my abysmal relationship I had with my ex that ended in disaster, I would not have met my beautiful wife.

When you think about it, this quote is almost interwoven with the saying "Ignorance is bliss."

My opinion on it is that, while you may have lost, at least you experienced it, I would rather have a few fleeting moments of happiness and joy more than a lifetime of ignorance.

MrPockets thinks the question is really "knowledge is power" v.s. "Ignorance is Bliss" MrPockets thinks it depends on how one lost the object

Ooh, I like that viewpoint, MrPockets. That's a good idea.

i think its better to have something and then losing it. hapiness and then saddnes is always better then feeling nothing. you will always lose something you like but you will still have the happy memories. and last thing: it bad to regret something you did or have but its even worse to regret something you didnt do or didnt have

ya, my theory is, dont regret anything you do cause in the end its what makes you who you are.

but again i think that statement is garbage. i mean. if you loved somthing/someone and then lost it, thats not fun...... and i would have preferd to have avoided the sistuation completley then go through heartbreak

I personaly would choose nothing over a rocket of emotions. I don't think clearly when saddened or happy.
