I know this thread has probably been made a Brazilian times, but hear me out. This one asks a more specific question:

Is the life sentence without parole worse than the death sentence? I am not asking if you think it is legal, but if it is worse to rot in prison or to die without pain?

Show me how killing for revenge helps anyone.

A man is a mass murderer who cannot be caught. He kills your wife, and you kill him out of revenge. That helps whoever he was going to kill next.

I go by the maxim, "turn the other cheek." After I ignore you twice, I have no cheeks left, and I must do something about it. Unless you count ***-cheeks, which is just kinda creepy...

You see there is a nation called china that we owe this stuff called money to and making people stay in jail for there whole life cost this money so it will save us this money to kill people that were gonna die in jail anyways.

Show me how killing for revenge helps anyone.

It's not so nuch a matter of revenge as a matter of saving us this currency called money

The death penalty is a very hard issue to make arguments for and against. Mainly because, there is no true way to gauge whether or not the American people actually agree with it. In any case, there are a variety of positions one can take. Nonetheless, I am in agreement with it.

You'd like A Modest Proposal.

How is that in any way related to the sentence preceding it?

Nonetheless, I am in agreement with it.
Why?

Prevention and punishment are different. If any good comes from my revenge-driven killing in this hypothetical, it is the accidental spawn of a similar evil. Two wrongs don't make a right, and a right and a wrong don't make the wrong right.

I'd rather have a death sentence than a LIFE sentence. A death sentence would be cheaper anyway because you'd just have to kill the person guilty and be done with it. While a LIFE sentence you would have to pay the crap for them in prison like food and water. Jail isn't a really fun place to begin with. Death sentences should be given more often so we won't waste money to just to keep a prisoner in jail for god only knows how long, since the U.S. economy is crap now.

I agree, it was a poorly written statement. I don't know what the cuss I was talking about. I guess I meant to say something along the lines of, most of the arguments made by each side are mooted by technicalities. Such as the bandwagon argument, commonly used by both sides. Then that sentence.

Why?

I'll rescind that statement, because I don't like to form opinions on things that don't effect me.

So you'd prefer to be institutionalized rather than to be dead? Either way you lose whatever life you had before you came in, and prison life doesn't seem like anything to look forward to.

If it weren't for the laws and mores of our society, I would totally adopt that. Food and clothing for all!

Eehm, Skarl life improsonent is not for the rest of your life in the Netherlands. I know because i am too from The Netherlands.

That's not true. Techniquely it is. Google it.

Prison for life would be so amazingly boring for me, I wouldn't be able to stand it. I choose death.

Have you ever been in prison? They make it so it isnt boring. You should read up. Oh yeah, and suicide is just an other form of murder.

Oops i accidentely pressed submit

The victims family should be able to choose what happens to the guilty person.

Remember, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

I think its pointless to kill them, it costs money and leaves them useless to society. Just make them work in prison half there money goes to there victims half to the goverment. Everyone wins.

That is the system right now.

No one deserves to suffer.

Um, yeah.
