I forgot to mention it before but there's a group of people that issue Minecraft build challenges to their fans then look/play through the things that people have created on the server, some of the stuff that people make is amazing, here's the Minecraft Atlantis and there was even a Minecraft Giant World. I'm especially amazed at the giant (working) piano in the second one and it just goes to show how much can be done with Minecraft.
Meh....People spend literally hundreds of hours on a game. How? I kind of quit games now.

lol, on topic i haven't played much SSP since 1.6 came out, so i don't know how rare tall grass is for me, but since i have a railway system(using powered rails=]) that goes through quite a few biomes, im sure ill be able to find some, plus i already have like a large chest full of seeds soooo, i don't really need tall grass, but i do love the hatches and maps, im having so much fun with them , especially in SMP, although i hope they come out with iron hatches soon tho =(
I am mourning my minecraft. i got lost as i forgot my compass and map and the only way to get back to my awesome town was to kill myself. :-( I had just found my second dungeon as well! I have decided to stop playing that world for now as i am depresed and i lost all my decent stuff (all my iron, diamonds, ect). will play on ag till i get bored then start a new world. :-)
Why must I constantly squander my money on useless frivolities and then not have enough left for the not-so-useless frivolities like Minecraft? I know that it's only £13.95 but I'm broke. On a lighter note - some of the stuff that's been built on the classic multi-player servers is absolutely amazing, especially the pixel art, I even saw a Statue of Liberty that blew my mind.

That's why you simply remember where you are and don't rely on the compass/maps. On a side note, you could have just set up a temporary home and made a new compass/map to go back to your area.
