As the new zodiac sign, Ophiuchus, has been introduced, there has been a fair amount of controversy. Some people's signs have been changed! This is ridiculous, of course, since another star in existence shouldn't affect the star one was born under. I think that people whose birthdays were before the change should stay, and people born after the change should be the only ones with a different charts. What do you think?
Although this can seem like an oxymoron, the new zodiac, Ophiuchus, an astrological sign, is official. Although I don't like my sign being moved over to make room for the new guy, I'm not paying much mind to it.

lol thats a nice way to look at it freakenstein. this thread made me interested so ive decided to look for my real sign. in the end i found out that i am part gemini and part cancer. i also found a site that talks about it. they call it born under a cusp, which means you were born exactly when the sun moves on to another sign. i found it really close to my personality and everything and i doubt that that new sign will really affect anything. it wouldnt surprise me if people AND astologers would eventually just ignore it
I feel as if someone needs to quietly poke his head through the door and scream their opinion. All the star signs and zodiacs are utter BS. I find them utterly irrelevant things written for irrelevant people. I don't know why I get pissed off at this, but it seems like these ridculous things are bringing us, humanity, backwards into the stupid ages.

You realize that it is pretty much the same thing. Beliefs like star sign and zodiacs were simillar to the old superstions hundereds AND thousands of years ago. Superstitions, that grew into what we see today.

I don't take them seriously just some little cool thing. Like If I was Scorpio I could tell people I was a scorpion. But now I'm a freaking goa...ram. I don't know if that's a step down from a bull or not.

Having a different opinion makes for a better thread conversation than everyone agreeing on the same thing. Arguing and debating is the most used type of conversation you know.

Believe me, when I see something slightly credible, I research it before getting into an arguement about it. Why waste my time arguing when the other person may be right?
some times the people's personality is affected by their sign, but it's because of the season and the weather they were born in, not because of the stars position. so, I don't think a new sign will change much, even because our signs are those that the Greeks could see, but there are billions of other stars in the space. and,

but this isnt an argument about whether this is reall or not... no one can prove its real and no can prove its not real... you can explain why you think its not real but you cant say it isnt and thats its just stupid. btw. i like fruits basket too its my favorite show
If I remember the linked article right, it seems that the "new zodiac" has always been a part of the signs the sun go through, but it was excluded by the astrologists, because 12 made a much better number than 13. So once again, unless you are the record holder of "oldest person alive", and have hold it since ancient times, it would only be logic to have your sign changed (as it has always been what it would be now, and not what you thought it was). However, again, I am going to point out that this "new discovery" is in fact something astronomers care about, and astrologists does not. So I guess any change, even for newborns, is void.
