It's finally here!

http://armorgames.com/play/10317/gemcraft-labyrinth

I'm loving it so far. The map is much better than the previous games, and I love all the new battle options.

One thing to remember about the experience in GCL, it's totally different from GC and GC0. Previously experience was gained with each monster you kill and then totaled for the battle. In GCL, each stage has a base exp which is gained by beating the level using default settings, not summoning and not getting any amulets.

By changing the settings you change the multiplier from 1.0x to over 52.06x, also battle amulets each give a different multiplier which is totaled at the end of the level, and summoning (or endurance using the number of waves survived instead of summons) also has a multiplier.

So in GCL:
BaseExp * settings * amulets * summons = experience gained for the level
(This is why you don't have a score that you can see as you play)

You do not get any experience from killing monsters, and mana gained from monsters doesn't increase when you summon.

This is why it's important to play levels with higher base exp, use harder settings, and get battle amulets (amulets are added to your total amulets even if you didn't get more experience).

Far more has changed in this game than I think most people realise.

A note about the base exp and what is used to determine the amount for each level.

Here's a formula that is a rough guess at what might be used by the game.

StageBaseXp = ((100 * (Number of waves * 18.35) * (First Wave monster Hp * 19.63)) * 0.425)

I expect there should be "total first wave HP" somewhere in that formula. There could be big waves with less HP per monster, and small waves with big individual monster's HP.

I have two questions:

1. Are you allowed to use Amplifiers and Red Gems for Challenge Amulet M2; do they only count the base attack and won't penalize you for using these.

2. What do you need to do to beat the 1337 Endurance stages? Is there any tips to doing so? Right now I just use a nine-square castle (1 tower with 8 Amps) and I can't seem to get past 125 at the most. I'm at level 108, and let me send you a link to my skills thus far: http://foxfirestudios.tumblr.com/post/4081793725

1. Yes, you can use these. If you get gem, that will have more damage than description of amulet, you will get it.
I got this when made highgrade red-lime-yellow and mine max raw damage for this map is 3962.
2. You need manafarm.
Trap with lime+orange+cyan(optionally) gem with 5-6 amplifiers (lime+orange+cyan) It will give you thousand of mana par frame.
My topic
It's almost endurance, look at the end of second page youtube video.

1 tower + 8 amps works nicely enough for baseline settings, but for endurance you have to switch to traps after a while. Traps deal 80% less damage, but increase specials by 80% too; this is especially noteworthy for lime (chain hits), yellow (damage multiplier), orange (mana gain) and red (extra damage). Once you reach about grade 10+ gems, it's typically more interesting to put them in traps than in towers. (For bloodhound gems, you can wait until they got their 2000 kills amulets while serving in a tower first, so that they'll still do a nice base damage in a trap).

And remember that lime goes with everything. Don't use pure gems, use duals or triples with lime in them. The other specials are transferred to each of the additional hits as well.

Erm, endurance=premium=trap skill= -50% damage, 110% specials.
So with yellow component you even can start without tower(instead 100 damage, x2 multiplier you get 50 damage 4 multiplier).

There are two types of endurance in GCL. Unlimited waves (premium only) and crafting pylon fields (including non-premium).

If you look at his skills, you can see unlocked premium.

To do a full 1337 battle I think it's easiest to set it to all giants, use Y/L gems surrounded by amps and 6+ shrines that hit where monsters spawn from the nest. Once all enemies have 3.33 billion HP then use the shrines to get them weak enough to kill using towers.

Remember that in endurance, you get nothing for sending waves earily or summoning monsters. So take your time and don't feel rushed, it's going to take some time to get to the end no matter what.

Has it been confirmed that summoning monsters does not affect the endurance-multiplier?
I know you get a few amulets that count, but I have convinced myself that I got a different endurance-multiplier from my last 1337 than from my first.
Currently at work, with a comp at home with a running game where I will do a LOT of summoning. Might come back with an answer by the end of the weekend if no-one knows already.

There is definitely no difference in endurance multiplier (not for angering nor early calling). Breaking tombs doesnt even increase it (although it clearly states +10% multiplier but that might only work if you are below the 1337).

Breaking tomb - summon multiplier, it won't work on endurance.
Yes, summoning don't affect endurance multiplier. look at 31 page of this topic.

So cruising through 1337 with max multipliers will give the maximum score possible(initial_exp * starting_multiplier * 71,57 * (amulets_multiplier)). Only chance of record-breaking or trying for the "impossible" is summoning on pylon-levels? Can shadows be milked for extra score?

shadows are worth 1.24 to battle setting multiplier, so yes in terms of final score. Actually, as soon as you wreck the shadow, you can finish the battle normally as if there was no shadow, but check total monsters killed if you're running pylon level.
