Well, I was searching to see if this was already made, but the searches didn't show a thread with my idea so here it is. I am making this thread so we can have a typical tavern discussion thread for all things science! Basically, a thread for everything science! Ranging from discussions about laws and theories, scientific debate, breakthroughs, discussion about new scientific breakthroughs, certain scientists/philosophers, and all that good stuff!
So go out there and let out your inner science! ;P
To get us going somewhere I'll start: what do you think the future holds for technology? I think our knowledge will allow us to overcome the obstacles thrown at us in the future, I mean, we have discovered so much and have come so far!

Then the whole thing would greatly increase in size. If it was the size of a current space shuttle, I'd venture to say it would be the size of a whole state.

Then our light speed train I assume that is what you mean. If so, it could go either way...

This would only work for taking up forward in time.

The speed required would break the speed of light, if using speed would work at all.

We couldn't use a portal system either as such a portal would collapse for similar reasons why a warp bubble would collapse if it went superliminal.

Then we need some kind of breakthrough.. Don't forget this is futuristic speaking though.

The train is to get to the center of the universe.

Supa, I'm talking cold fusion and plasma engine technology it would be that size. We would need to harness Europa's methane oceans and more if we used modern tech.

Yeah, we were brainstorming possible ways to get to the center, from there we have an idea... Weather it works or not is not a definite.

Technically there is no center of the universe.

Well, we can try black hole technology. Or even make this a generation-program... Use just cold fusion and plasma engines and make this trip generations long.

Well, the big bang threw everything out of a single point. The universes rate of expansion is even and steadily accelerating. There is a center to it, and if you disagree, substitute the center of the big bang.

On a large scale the universe is homogeneous and isotropic (the same everywhere and the same in all directions) As such you can't have a center.

Bit more explanation.

In all directions.... from the starting point, ie the center of the universe.

So i wonder if everything was thrown away from that point then what is at the point? is it even possible for someing to be there?

Hurray another participant (it has been a 3 to 4 man show forever)!

Well, space is at that point... Any thing special, I know not.
It is quite a hard concept to grasp and fully understand.I too, would think there would be a "center" so to say of the bang too. If it started at blank point in the universe, can't you find the center, or near center?
However, it turns out you can't find the center, the article does have me slightly convinced..

Gravity exists in that point. Perhapscsome mega black hole? By definition, every solar system (actually a misnomer as Sol is our sun) centers around a star, every galaxy is theoretically centered on a black hole, what is at the center of the universe?

No the starting point isn't the center, just as you couldn't point to the surface of a balloon and say "that's the center". This singularity would be the balloon in a deflated state, the universe as it is is like the balloon in an inflated state.
