We mourn when we lose a loved one. We feel bad. Sometimes we cry, express our grief in some way. But, are the dead the lucky ones?

How, exactly, are they unlucky to be alive? I see no way in which i'd prefer to be dead than alive.

Why do you want to die, Mirage1?

For the first: luck does not exist. For the second: no one can know whats happens in afterlife. For the third: the most people who think it's better to be dead than alive do suicide. For the fourth: the dead one think it's also sad to leave the friends and for the fifth: this is my forum post #100!

I think who you value as lucky or unlucky depends what you personally go through in your on life. Very general assumption to make!

When someone is dead, they wont feel anything, but the people who are alive will mourn for some time. I guess that's your point, and what you're saying is that when someone dies, it's worst for those close to that person.

However, after the mourning, they can keep living. The person who's dead will always be dead. Though those who live have had a hard time since the death, I'd still say that I'd rather be in their situation, so no, the dead people are not the lucky ones.

True, true. I guess it really depends on you definition of the afterlife.

Oh, now i get it. You probably believe in a heaven right? Well the reason why most people cry when a loved one dies is because no one actually really believe in a heaven. If people actually do believe in a heaven they would be happy for someone that died.

I'd rather be alive than dead, at least I can communicate with people while I live, if I'm dead I just lie there, feeling nothing.

they would be happy for someone that died.

You're never going to cheer if someone dies, even if they go to a heaven or not.

why not?

So, if someone you knew died tomorrow, you would cheer and not feel the slightest bit sad?

I disagree. Instead of being sad and moping around like the world's ending, celebrate who that person was. Be happy that you got to know them instead of being sad

When someone I know dies, I feel like crying, but hold it back while in front of others, then I'll cry to myself.
I would never celebrate if someone died, though.

I'd be sad, but I wouldn't cry. Because everyone dies in the end....so yea...

Many cultures celebrated and celebrate the dead, not because they are gone but to commemorate them. It is unnecessary to take the burden of endless mourning, though you must be able to say farewell to the dead (which mostly is a small period of mourning), let them be dead and get on with life.
The more you spend time on mourning, the less you spend time with the living.
