1. Whom do you admire? 2. Why do you admire him/her? 3. What do you wish to say to him/her if you two met? 4. What do you think is his/her greatest accomplishment? 5. Any miscellaneous facts about that historical figure that we may not know about?
Captain Lyle S. Schmitz, US Marine Corp (Ret.) I forget which one it was, but he hand picked the team to rescue American prisoners at some Embassy somewhere and, had it not been for bad weather, he would have been there himself and as soon as it was clear for helicopters to fly, he was. He went through the Vietnam War and I had the pleasure of meeting the Captain personally. He is a hero among men.
Anyways, I don't admire one person. Instead I take the things I believe from many people. And some of it I make up on my own.
You don't have to just say one person...you could list multiple figures that you look up to and are inspired by.
I admire Niccolo Machiavelli because I believe that he was extremely intelligent. I like his way of thinking, for the most part. He stated that the ruler can do whatever he wants provided it is for the benefit for the people, and not himself. I also think he is a sexy beast. Just look at his statue in the Uffizi.
Thomas Edison- Greatest inventor ever! Abraham Lincoln- He helped abolish slavery. Albert Einstein- Just the smartest guy ever. Neil Armstrong- The first astronaut ever to step foot on the moon.
Hmmm... I can't think of many other historical figures that changed history, but there are many more that you can list.
nobody knows his name or whos side he was but in the american revoulution both sides commanded their sides not to shoot untill the other one did lol and a guy accidently pulled the trigger and that is called the shot heard round the world and to this day no one knows who shot it and i would say whats wrong with you? cant you freaking hold a gun?!
I'm certain my favorite historical figure is there somewhere. Due to the sheer scope that this question encompasses, I will be specific. My favorite ancient historical figure is Julius Caesar.
Thomas Edison- Greatest inventor ever!
He was a genius, but his spat with Tesla wasn't admirable. He also electrocuted all those animals.
Albert Einstein- Just the smartest guy ever.
I forgot if he actually took an IQ test or not. I did see estimates of his IQ at 160. Though, intelligence quotient doesn't show the big picture in my opinion.
Unlike most of the people here, I'll actually follow the style Tacky suggested. For one, at least, as the others are pretty obvious.
Scientists - 1: Nikola Tesla 2: Actual inventor of pretty much everything Edison 'invented' [I.E. ripped off] 3: After he found out about Edison stealing ideas, I'd tell him I respect him more than Edison. 4: The Tesla Coil (+ a big, useless tower] 5: He got ripped off hard
Oppenheimer [Obvious]
Everyone who died in space before Gagarin.
Artists [I admire their paintings and their contributions to modern day style and surrealism.] Painters P. P. Rubens (The elder) [No surrealism.] R. Magritte, S. Dali J. Ensor [I adore this man] Musicians [Obvious] S. Barber L. Beethoven Writers [Obvious] Alighieri Cervantes Boccacio Conscience J.K. Rowling [Hahaha, not really.]
All humanists, activists and people with common sense.
Knight, was that supposed to be a D: or does PETA hate you?
I think was supposed to be >.

I don't know what I tell Julius Caesar, aside from warning about the future (that is if I was the one going to the past). I'm certain I'd end up a slave. He also believed in fate and that a person was to die when it was meant to be.
I'll think of some other preferred historical figures now.
