That isn't part of the old testament. It is part of the new testament and the Gospel (which some people consider an unreliable source)
Doesn't matter where it's from. If you take the NT into account and follow that piece, you follow the OT rules. If you disregard the NT and just follow the OT, you follow the OT rules.
THAT TAUGHT YOU THIS IN SCHOOL??? I've seen evolution (to an extent), I'm in Biology now, taught in school, but never anything religious!!! May I remind you I'm a Catholic and wish to have religion taught in school.
Don't you get taught R.E (religious education) in America? In England we have it as compulsory from yr 3-yr 9 and optional for the next 4 years. We don't actually get told a religion is right and we just get taught about what other religions do which is really boring but apparently from yr8+ we actually start doing philosophy which should be interesting so I'm looking forwards to that.
No. 1: I live in Germany, so it's a German school No. 2: Thats wasn't Religion class it was Ethics class. 75% of the Class are atheists (Teacher too). Accually it's a Class for pupil who aren't baptised/ Who cannot go to religion class. We often talk about other religions in a philosofical way and we try to understand why people believe in God. Today we talked about Satan.
Is it better doing R.E segregated by religion or in a mix because I would've thought that with mixed you could have interesting discussions and stuff compared with all having similar opinions.
Until such a point as religion can bring empirical evidence and proof of its assertions to the table it has no place in the classroom
And that is how it should be. If the public funds it, it can't have anything to do with religion. If religion is thought, then it should only be in history class, from a non biased source, giving a brief overview and stating how it effected history. Nothing more.
Since it kind of goes on into philosophy it isn't all about religion and since they teach stuff like politics and economics from yr 12+ they should teach philosophy and anyway in a society with lots of different religions in it helps to know about them.
I'm an atheist because I wasn't brought up in a religion and there is no proof for the existence of god. If God truly existed he would do something about the worlds problems which at the moment are getting worse.
you cant know that. maybe god wants us to learn from our mistakes by our self? if hed correct everything we do we wouldnt learn on our own and wouldnt be free? who knows? maybe god is evil and he enjoys seeing us suffer? note: i am just giving theories. there is no reason why this isnt true. it doesnt mean i believe god is evil though. i have my own beliefs and what i am trying to do is to show that there are countless things and theories you can believe in.
I'm atheist because there's no reason believing in anything. Just because of religion many innocent people were killed. There are no arguements for believing in God, proof the opposite.
WRONG!!!. people dont die because of religion (unless it has a twisted rule of sacrifising children etc.). the people who just cant face the fact that we are all different and believe in different things kill other people. if we all believed in one religion then there wouldnt be culture differences and any new ideas. the difference in our belifs is important and should be respected. people only get hurt by those who cant accept those who are different and thats not connected only to religion anymore.

What's with the crusades? The parts in the bible were god told the people that they should kill each other? Many wars had their origins in religious conficts. Another example: Terrorism. Of course there are other reasons, but religion isn't something positive in my opinion. And there are no proofs for God's existance.

not christian so i dont know that. anyway again this what they believe in. it doesnt mean they have to hurt people now. its a theory and things have changed. even if thats written in the bible there might be a chance god changed his mind. things that happen in the past of our beliefs dont have to happen now. people have the decision of what they want to do. idk anything about christianity but im sure christian people whouldnt start killing other people even if it was written in the bible. and they do thats not all of them you know.

Of course they would. They would kill people like fundamental Islamists do. And God cannot change his mind because he knows everything, is almighty and does ALWAYS the right. That says the bible...

not sure if this story is in the christian bible... what about noah boat? god realised the rain wasnt the right answer. also not all islamists kill people. also time changes. and so do we. if god is respinsible to us and we change. he has to change his actions too.
Rofl. I have NEVER heard Noah's ark referred to as "Noah boat." I'm going to have to remember that...
lol english isnt my first language so i had no idea how to call this story even though i was sure it starts with an "a" XD
Why should his actions have ever been wrong and needing to change? Either god has always been right and all powerful, or he's a royal screw up.
idk about any other religion but god changed his mind and listened to the people a few times. you can explain it as in "let your children do mistakes so they will earn from them". also different people need different ways to interact with, teach and many other things so he has to change his actions detemined on the person he is.... idk doing something with? XD

If God is evil he shouldn't be worshipped, if he doesn't do anything for us he may as well not exist and should not be worshipped. He needs to prove that he is worth worshipping before I will do that.

But religions encourage the killing of people who try and convert you or just believe in another religion. The inquisition and the crusades were all endorsed by the bible.
God didn't make any mistake. God knows everything in past, present and future. God can't make mistakes.
then why did he want to start a new generation just from moses? why did he have to check if izhack would die?
i dont say any facts i say things that might be true.

if he is evil that doesnt mean we know that. also people worship the statan and im pretty sure they know he is evil. god did a few things in all bibles that proved he is worth warshiping.

true but in the end its the decision of the person itself. in the end, blaming a book, belief or past is a bad excuse for killing. also not all religions do that
