Personally I do not celebrate easter but that mainly because of where it originated. I encourage you to find the truth and give me feedback on what you think
The Easter bunny is a pagan symbol of fertility, probably tracing its origin from being the protected/blessed/favorite/pet animal of Ostara, (or Eostre in old English), Goddess of fertility. Bunnies being, you know, fertile (they breed like them, of course!). And eggs themselves are symbols of new life and fertility. But what the magical connection is between bunnies and eggs (besides chocolate), no one really knows.
I never quite realized just how pagan Easter was before now...
I think it depends on the place you live in. For instance, in the place I live, we have no Easter bunny. We still have chocolate eggs, but no bunnies. We also have a tradition about not eating meat the Friday before Easter. We don't even call it "Easter" (so no connection with Ostara), but with a name coming from Hebrew. I didn't think that the same feast could be so different.
yes and so you have learned look into other holidays aswell i just thought since it was that time that it was necessary to mention it.Good learnings and again thanks for contributing =)
I used to be quite religious, (raised Roman Catholic), and except for a marriage, funeral, and a Christmas mass, haven't been to church in four years. I went to church again this morning (to support my mother). Regardless of where the ties came from, and what that might imply, and in spite of the way the world is, this Easter, to me, is about family.
I'm surprised that so many people right here don't give a **** that they're paying homage to Satan and pagan dieties. This is why I can't stand people.
