How are drugs bad? It's like saying it would be illegal to smoke glue or something. it's the people's choice. The government can't make people do what they want. They can discourage it, sure, but ban it is fascism.
Oh yea, pot and LSD are less dangerous then alcohol.
Anywho, What 314d1 is saying about this is right. Getting high once may effect you to a very miniscule amount, but for more permanent damage, long term high dosage is needed. In fact, according to some research, there is no connection between pot use and cancer. In fact, some studies suggest that moderate use of marijuana may protect against some types of cancer. Roflcopter, are you a zombie? Because your only argument seems to be "BRAAAINS".
Anyways, drugs are bad, but a lot of things are. In many cases, it's up to the user to take responsibility, and a lot of people think it should be the same with drugs. Though, of course you need to draw a line. If we allowed pot, then would people want cocaine (big step, I know) to be legal next? Basically, a line has to be drawn somewhere, and people tend to cross the line, some more than others, so by pushing that line too high, even the slightest overstep can have severe consequences.
you know drugs are bad and i dont understand why the world ends if som1 says somthing bad about drugs exRUGS R BAD 4 Y
I would say drugs can be bad. If taken in large amounts. But if taken in small dosages, like maybe a glass of wine or a joint of marijuana every month, how is that bad?
Alcohol is bad no matter what it is in. However, it can create some good products such as mouthwash, but I've never seen nor heard of marijuana being used 'tamely'.
So you are stating that recreational alcohol should be legal because alcohol has other purposes? Some druggies have stated that hemp can be made into paper, so there is a pretty tame reason. And your reason would be like legalizing glue as a drug, because glue also has a tame purpose other than being a drug.
marijuana is a drug, just cause it protects cancer but it probably makes you high for a while
Wait, caffeine should be made illegal in your view? Once again, please read your sources more carefully. Under this view of "All drugs are bad", then things like coffee and necessary prescription medicine would be illegal. I don't think you are using your terms correctly, that isn't the one you have been using.
When pot is illegal, people that are taking it will be using illegal substances.
When pot is legal, people that are taking it will be using legal substances.
One way or the other, people will still take drugs.
The Netherlands seems to be doing pretty good as a country and is probably one of the countries in which pot is legal. The Netherlands drug policies are, in my opinion a lot more effective.
"Most policymakers in the Netherlands believe that if a problem has proved to be unsolvable, it is better to try controlling it and reducing harm instead of continuing to enforce laws with mixed results."
