no i defined drug retard it doesnt cause brain damage

...Really, you didn't actually read what your own link said.

Coffee is the most widely used psychoactive drug beverage in the world. In 1999 the average consumption of coffee was 3.5 cups per day per U.S. citizen.[1]

Or even the opining post.

A drug, broadly speaking, is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.[3] There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in drug control law, government regulations, medicine, and colloquial usage.[4]

You can't be saying drugs are bad when using your usage.

Medication
Nexium pills 40 mg
(esomeprazole magnesium)
Main article: pharmaceutical drug

A medication or medicine is a drug taken to cure and/or ameliorate any symptoms of an illness or medical condition, or may be used as preventive medicine that has future benefits but does not treat any existing or pre-existing diseases or symptoms.

Dispensing of medication is often regulated by governments into three categoriesâ"over-the-counter (OTC) medications, which are available in pharmacies and supermarkets without special restrictions, behind-the-counter (BTC), which are dispensed by a pharmacist without needing a doctor's prescription, and Prescription only medicines (POM), which must be prescribed by a licensed medical professional, usually a physician.[citation needed]

In the United Kingdom, BTC medicines are called pharmacy medicines which can only be sold in registered pharmacies, by or under the supervision of a pharmacist. These medications are designated by the letter P on the label.[8] The range of medicines available without a prescription varies from country to country.

Medications are typically produced by pharmaceutical companies and are often patented to give the developer exclusive rights to produce them, but they can also be derived from naturally occurring substance in plants called herbal medicine.[citation needed] Those that are not patented (or with expired patents) are called generic drugs since they can be produced by other companies without restrictions or licenses from the patent holder.

Why does their harmfulness mean that it is the government's job to protect people from making mistakes with them? Why should the government protect us from bad decisions?

Roflcopter you are so insanely biased. My friend did drugs often and he is a healthy functioning member of society and got tons of colleges wishing for him to join. Just because you think it's so bad does not mean it is. People are irresponsible and die but there are plenty of people who are responsible.... and not addicts etc. Me for example I like to do drugs, I have a job a girlfriend friends a life anything I need. So what? Just because society says it's bad does not mean I am going to give in, I am going to have fun in my one life.

I also don't see how they promote brain damage? They may cause brain damage if done irresponsibly but that is the humans choice not the drugs...

I bet if you had a headache you would guzzle some tyenol. Alcohol is extremely bad for you but since it's legal I bet you think it's ok? Pot is illegal and much healthier than most of the stuff considered legal... And pot can be used to make paper and rope etc.. It's a shame it's not legal, it could save some god **** trees that we use for OXYGEN!

Marijuana is also prescribed in california for many reasons and other states because people have opened their eyes and are trying to make a change.

Besides it's the peoples decision if they want to "destroy their brains"

What do you care?

Hmm...
Quote from article:

"A drug is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal body function."

OK - I see what you mean.

Water should be illegal, food should be illegal, people should be illegal. Everything in the world should be illegal - because it technically would affect normal body function if absorbed into the system.

So are you still sure all drugs should be illegal? Or do you have a different definition?

That's a misinterpretation of the definition. Water and food don't alter normal body function, they fuel it. Anything that would cause an effect NOT typically present in the functioning of the human body - like pain relief or hyperactivity - would be a drug. Water and food are an integral part of normal body function in the first place, though.

Well, flowers growing in the backyard contain plant toxins, probably, capable of killing some ants. This affects an organism negatively. These are drugs. Should these be illegal? Surely that applies to the definition.

So "alter" is synonymous with "negatively alter"?

And it's supposed to be a reductio, too. I take the definition he provided, and I make it prove a false statement.

Quote from article:

Only one quote from the start of a huge article regarding all drugs.

The drugs he is talking about are psychoactive drugs that are used for recreation.

Drugs hurt both the mind and body and with out them being banned, people would use them like crazy and die quicker. But, I believe that if drugs were legalized, after MANY MANY years, people would not use them because they arent really getting away with anything but a quicker death.

This is going to sound really evil but honestly the people that go out and "Do them like crazy" are dumb ***** than I would like to filter out of society. I do many many drugs and I can get them as easily as if they were legal... But I don't destroy myself at all. I am perfectly fine. Sure pot has made my lungs a little black. Just like the cigerettes. I know the effects but I choose to anyways.

Like I said just because they are legal does not necesarily mean the whole world is going to start "Doing them like crazy"

Very true maniac. Just take example on Netherlands or Peru. Good countries, low drug regulations.
