our intelligence is certainly unique, although apes may show sighns of morality and self awareness, we are the only creatures that have adapted the enviroment aroud us to suit us, not ourselves to the enviroment

I think in context "unique intelligence" was directed at our morality in particular. I meant we have not got unique intelligence through moral thinking and other survivalist features.

We do not lack morals. I think we actually have good and maybe the best morals in history. I seem to noticed that the more time goes by, the more we become nicer and we make better standards.

Yeah, that's lately. The argument is:
Morals been getting better;
Not lately;
Better morals than hundreds of years ago however;
Still not good enough.

In my opinion

Aside from the fact that there are more people around now, chances are it's because more crimes are reported now. Teenagers were involved in dangerous or violent crimes fifty years ago too, the only difference was that it involved more switchblades and chicken races back then.

Yeah, and that.

One of the reasons friendship could be rarer now is because previously any flaws people had would be a "deal with it" situation back then because it wasn't a "Block on facebook" that would fix it. I think more patience and tolerance of different things were in people for those reasons. But hey. I wasn't there.

i agree highfire people are much less tolerant of peoples faults, because there are so many other people they can connect up with and meet up with on the internet

I know what you mean, but I don't link it with being religious in general.. of course, having a god you believe in gives you ultimate justification (in your eyes) to do everything that seems right to you. But this pretty surely also works in politics, maybe not so well, but those political extremists will also do a lot of things to achieve their goals. I'd say it's all about being extremist or not, it's more of a character of the person itself. Religion and politics only offer opportunities...

sprooschicken has a point. The difference between terrorists and the pope is the way they spread their belief or act against other beliefs. Terrorists are simply more violent. But both are convinced that they have a deity behind them.
Other important point: extremists may go against "our" morals, or what we call standart, but they sure go along what they call their morals. Remember, morals are subjective, it all depends on the people.
