I have a suggestion: I think it would be nice to rate/like user comments that are given for games. Also it would be nice to keep the comments that receive thee most likes on top of the commenting place. I've visited this site called kongregate.com they have this system of liking user comments and the most liked comments stay on top of the other user comments for that game. It would be very nice to see the best comments/tips for playing the game without going/searching over all the comments. Please make some system like that. Thankyou. 007

report useless comments that people see.

and if no one reports them? Not everyone cares about the terms of use.

Or I think that they will have a way of getting notified when a comment reaches the 'best comments' section. Then they'll probably skim through them and delete the useless ones

Your whole idea on this seems rather time consuming for the admin. They get notified when a comment reaches the highest rated comment on a game, they go and read it, then they either delete it or leave it. Now, with over 1500+ games on Armor Games right now, that is possibly upwards of 400-500 (estimated) notifications per day, when are they gonna have time to take care of the other stuff on the site? Then if someone flags some other highest rated comments, they have that to take care also. Your idea appears to have a few errors.

Of course not everyone cares about them, it's why the site has to many immature people that break the rules constantly. But I'm sure that there are people out there that care about the comments and do play the games on the site regularly, because there have been many threads about comments in the past. And remember, there's a spam bot, spam will get deleted. And also remember, Moderators go through comments, so useless ones will get deleted.

Spam bot = Spam getting deleted. Moderators = Useless comments getting deleted whenever one of them does decide to go through the comments.
The report thing on comments/flag = Administrators have access to it and I think that they have some sort of tool on the thing that shows comment length, so they could just check them. Remember: Not all comments will get to the best comments part, highest rated comments will, so that's not a lot of comments to go through when they are in that section.

Think of it this way:

1,500 games.

Users play 600 games out of the 1,500.

Comments are voted up on 200 of the games.

If 100 of the 200 comments are voted up to the Highest Rated Comments on each game, that is 100 comments that will have to be checked over by the admin.

It is my guess (just assuming as i have seen and heard of these before) that the Spam-bot operates on the number of words in the comment. If it has less then 10 words, it gets deleted. More then 10, the bot probably looks over it. If 90 of the highest rated comments are over 10 words, the bot won't check them. That will leave an estimated 90 comment the Admin will have to read over and check. It would seem to me it would be time consuming.

If a comment gets one vote then it isn't going to go on the best comments section. I'm talking about a system like Kongregate's, where only five-ten comments get into that section and it takes around ten votes for them to get there. So the problem that you're presenting won't happen.

I made this suggestion a long time ago.

I don't think your really getting my point. 10 comments = 10 games. Hundreds of games are played everyday, hundreds of comments are left everyday, going from this, i think it is safe to assume that (even if it takes 10 votes) quite a few comments will be voted up everyday.

Irrelevant. Because if it takes an x amount of votes to get a comment up onto the list then they don't have to worry about spam that much.

It seems i am still not getting through to you. Your not seeing my point. Most people are going to vote up something that has nothing really to do with the game. If comments on 100 different games each get the 10 votes, that is 100 comments that will have to be reviewed by the admin or the moderators. It is going to be a time consuming job to have to read through 100's of these comments every week. Pretty soon it will be tying up so much of their time that problems may begin to erupt elsewhere as they will have to spend more and more time with the rating system.

I understand your point, but it's not a good one.
Most people are going to vote up something that has nothing really to do with the game.

Give me some proof that backs this up.

---

Go take a look at a game on Kongregate, then scroll down to the comments section.

Your not saying why its not a good point.

Well i went to Kongregate and went to Elephant Quest, heres a Screenshot:

Your telling me that the ones underlined in blue really deserved to voted up? People thought they are funny, so people voted them up! Its not working the way it was intended. People are not voting up good, worthwhile reviews anymore. There's your proof.

I've pointed out why it isn't a few times, I've pointed out why it's good to have. Re-read the pages.

Kongregate =/= ArmorGames

They are more lenient there, that won't happen here.

Good idea but then instead of that the comments whit the most like's getting up i more like the idea that comments with a like go 10 places up or something...
Anyone a better idea?

The comment above should not all be a quote, just the first sentence

@xeano321:
I'm not sure why you're hating on the comment rating so much. It's going to be useful for people to gain reputation/karma points, and it'll help people that play the games see the reviews. It isn't going to turn out like Kongregate or YouTube where they vote up all the useless comments, because ArmorGames is stricter when it comes to comments and posts. We already know that there might be a vote up/down feature on forum posts in AG3, so why aren't you complaining about that? You're only complaining about the comment rating because of how it might turn out bad, but you haven't said anything about the forum posts getting voted up/down in the AG3 sub-forum. If you like that idea, and not this one, then that makes no sense. Since they are both essentially the same thing.

It isn't going to turn out bad because of how strict AG is with spam and useless comments. And I'm sure it doesn't take much time to sift through the flagged comments. They must have some sort of thing on there that lets them check mark comments, and look through comments quickly.

Your argument on this idea is flawed for the reasons that I've stated many times before. You're only complaining about how the useless comments will get voted up, well, read through this thread.

Yes, AG is strict about spam, but maybe this argument is being caused by xeano321 not seeing that.
