Okay here's a question.
If we were to win a war, lets say, against Germany again -- would it be right to celebrate?

I mean, we're celebrating the death of a ton of people, aren't we? Or, are we celebrating a victory?

It sounds like the same thing on a smaller scale, just one person who did bad things, and the possible joy that comes from defeating him.

I think its fine in this case. Usually when you celebrate a victory you celebrate how the nightmare is over and the victory itself, not the death of the enemy. Doing that last option would be wrong.

you have made no victory, and the nightmare is far from over, you are nieve if you believe that, so since its not the other two, they are ceebrating the death of an enemy, and as you said: that would be wrong

Hitler took his own life. And everyone was happy. He was a coward for doing that. And Bin Laden was shot in the face twice. And yes we should be happy. He killed tons of life's. That shouldn't have been taken away. So rejoice that he is dead.

celebrating hitlers death would be wrong, he needed to die, he was an evil man with evil thoughts, he commited such crimes celebrating his death would somehow detract from the sriousness of what he did, celebrating a death is wrong, because it is a sad truth that people need to be killed, no joy shoudl ever come from the realization

i think that its celibrating an end to a war and not the death of enemies.

anyway for the hitler part, how can you be happy and celibrate something that reminds you of so many dead people and evil deeds? i think we should just remember them as what they did and thats it. we have a rememberence day (misspeled didnt i?XD) and i cant imagine anyone celibrating hitlers death... it seems so pointless. celibrating one persons death is nothing compared to remembering so many others

I meant wars in general but in this case I don't see anything wrong about celebrating the mer victory of it.

again, what victory? it won't change anything, it hasn't achieved very much, you have won a very very minor battle but you have definately not won the war

Not really a big deal to celebrate his death, it's all just part of the war in the middle east.

I will quote what I wrote already on the first page on the same issue:
Victory? There is no victory, only absolved vengeance. War against terror is still there, and it might even get worse if the former second-placed and actual first-placed stays at the lead; he is supposedly even more violent than Osama.
You really only celebrated the death of Osama.

But I must say, congrats for cutting off the hydra's head. Instead of celebrating you should go on fighting though.

What does it matter? People are happy winning the battle, let them. After the years long pursue for the guy I think it earns the right to be labeled a symbolic victory.

Right, ok so we haven't Exactly won yet. The Death of an Inspirational Leader is demoralizing to our opponent.
