I fail to see how time and space go hand in hand... I have not really looked into it but I was talking with my friend and I cant seem to grasp something.
How are they relative?
He said if you travel really fast in a circle for 10 years time around you would go faster.
But I fail to see how this works. I figure you would be traveling really fast for 10 years at whatever speed and when you stop it would only be 10 years around you would it not?
That's like saying light is only an illusion, because it's just electromagnetic radiation that humans define as light.
Not really. Light is detectable, time is not. I'm going to search this article in english, so I can post the link here.
Can someone explain the light equals particles and waves but light cannot be both at the same time?
E=mc² means that every matter is ''frozen'' energy. Theoretical you can say, that matter equals paricles and waves, too. Sry, I can't explain it better. Maybe someone else can?
forgive me for that then... i remember my text books saying that there are instances where light would do things that were indicative of matter and not waves... and when it would do things that were indicative of waves and not matter. dealt w/ photons and such
Ok maybe I'm ignorant of the subject but how the hell is time matter? Time is just a way to say a minute is a minute. It's not matter or an object or anything like that.
i haven't delved into it too deep... but maybe you have conflicting definitions w/ old Einstein... hard science definitions aren't always the dictionary definitions you get for those words... they may be defining it a little differently than how ur looking at it... it was just a thought. I doubt it'll help you any.
I just want to point out something. There's two types of time, there is time as in the 4th dimension, and time as in the position of the sun. The first one is the one that all the theories about time and space apply too. The second one is the one we use to measure time. So a minute isn't a way to say a minute, its a way to say the sun is now here. And time isn't a human concept, its a dimension.
That doesn't say time is it's own dimension, it only says a 4D lets a 3D object roll on it's mirror image, which may help to explain how the universe might allow planets to, after going on forevar and evaar, return back to where they were.
In modern physics, space and time are unified in a four-dimensional Minkowski continuum called spacetime, whose metric treats the time dimension differently from the three spatial dimensions.
