As an American I have often wondered what other people thought of it. I've always been curious about how this country is viewed by people in other countries and see how they feel about it.
america is AWESOME!! i love it here, even though the economy might be bad, it's still an awesome place compared to other countries. especially about the pollution. i mean to offensive to anyone, but even if america seems to americans it polluted, other countries are way more bad. not all countries though.
P.s.- no offensive to anyone who might live in other countries or who are born there
Look I'm american, I live in Venezuela atm, I have only been to this 2 places but soon I will be living in other places such as Canda and Central America. What I can say about the US is that it is an amazing place to live in, but the economy is bad right now and keeping up with it is not easy. Here where I live I dislike it, it's very different so I'd rather live in the US then here, but what can one do.
And even though I'm in another country and my parents were born here, I don't consider myself Venezuelan. I consider myself an American. I will always be an american.
America to me, and this is based off of conversations I have had with Americans, a little study into your politics and policies, global news, and a few other sources such as your history, is a country of self interest.
The American people, by and large, regard their country as the greatest country on the planet. While patriotism is a good thing, Americans take it too far. For example, I love Canada. I've lived here all my life, and there is no where else I'd rather live. However, this does not make Canada the greatest country in the world to me. There are countries out there with more support to the working man like myself.
Americans disregard this. Many Americans refuse to learn anything about the world in which they live. They simply assume they live in a great country. I'll admit America is better than most places, however, Americans have no respect for their fellow man. America is a country of individualism. The people glorify self interest over the well being of the multitude. The well being as an entire country. This, to me, is a strange and disturbing notion. Americans are an overly proud arrogant people, who glorfiy their own history. Many the debate I have had over various incidents in history where America and Canada have had an impact. And always my American counterpart has rudely disregarded my country's hand in such events. Claiming America's superiority in blind ignorance.
So, these are my thoughts. Many of you will be insulted. This I cannot help, for I am not one to sugar coat my words. America, for the most part, is a place of reckless ignorance and individualism. A place, that goes against everything I am.

This is why I brought up that I live in another country, and that I will be visiting other countries soon. I am open minded, and I say that yes there are better things in other countries. I want to explore the world see different things. But in all this I still believe my country is my country and it is the best, maybe not in political views, or economy wise, but I love my country because it is my country and I was raised in it, and I lived a pretty good 14 years.
If you noticed, never once did I said "All Americans." I used words to encompass the majority. My words are directed at that majority. By all means, Canadians, are not any better at times. We may be a little more liberal in our views, but I doubt many of us have any scope of the outside world.
I study history, so it encourages my already flourished curiosity. I have also been to France. I'd love to see more of the world if I can. Especially China.
If you noticed, never once did I said "All Americans."
If you notice you never said "most" or "many" or "some". When you say Americans it sounds like you refer to all of them. If i say Asians, do you think i only refer to one Asian country or a small group of Asians?
A lot of Americans are obese or fat. There are more big polluting cars on American roads than in any other countries. Americans on average throw away more than 40% of the food they buy (without having eaten it). Many tend to be die-hard conservatists, republican and catholics.
On the other hand, America has a lot of well-known universities and houses amazing scientists, technologies and knowledge. They also have an important influence outwards of their own borders.
The only thing i can say about America is we have a more just government and fairer legal system then most other countries.
Um.. I sadly don't have any links or articles to found this, so you'll be able to attack this as much as you want.. but.. after what I have read and heard, America's law court is one of the most corrupt and arbitrary I have heard of.
5th in the most polluting people 4th in the most wastes 1st for strongest air pollution 1st for biggest nuclear wastes
Anyways. What can I say about America? I heard about a lot of stupidity from the US, but that's probably because the smart ones always seem to keep quiet
For the land, I never been to the US, but, excluding the pollution, i heard it was a very good looking country.

I probably won't defend this at all because its the tavern and not the WERP and because i don't really have anything to back this up with due to my lack of care in politics and things of that nature.

Actually, a lot of people only think of east Asia when someone says "Asians." If someone says "America," where I live, they typically think of U.S, not all of the Americas.
So, most people reply to this thread thinking U.S, when it could be all of North America and South America.
