No, won't happen. Since the world has supposedly ended 230948234 times beforehand on the predictions of others, and the end of the world is unknown to scientists, and in religion, nobody knows the date either. So it's practically a fail.

Also, should this be here?
I know the end of the world is obviously a world event but there isn't much debate in a yes/no question.

I believe in 2012, Not that anything will happen. But If something does I know where I'm headed.

No i don't believe in 2012 being the end of the world. First off that was just the furthest the Mayan calendar went too. Just because thats as far as it went doesn't mean anything. I believe i read somewhere that written in the calendar it says something to the effect of when it reaches the end its resets. Second I being a Christian believe that no one will be able to figure out the actual day of the "end of the world".

That sounds oddly contradictory.
Are you stating that you believe in the year, and that nothing will happen on that year, but if it something catastrophic were to occur, you have a safe-spot/afterlife you know you are going to?

**
As for the whole Mayan thing.
It, at its best, is based off a religion. Even if they did predict the end of the world is occur, who's to care. Nobody believes in.. Mayanism or whatever, so even then, it's pointless.
I just think someone read that a calendar was ending.
And poof, new way to market something/ start a thing.

First off that was just the furthest the Mayan calendar went too.

Their calendar actually doesn't even stop there. They did predict the end of a cycle at that date (not the end of the world), but since there is no trace of previous cycles, we can be sure that those are mythology.

I believe i read somewhere that written in the calendar it says something to the effect of when it reaches the end its resets.

They believed that the world was frequently destroyed and repopulated by a surviving couple; they called those Cycles, or Suns, and we are currently supposedly in the fifth, ending 21 dec. 2012 and followed by the sixth. Like I already said, their calendar may be extremely precise but their legends are legends.

Second I being a Christian believe that no one will be able to figure out the actual day of the "end of the world".

Well, not actually a day, but we know that in roughly 5 billion years earth will be engulfed by the sun.

I believe obviously. 2012 will come next year. If you meant the world will end then then I say no because there is as much evidence for this as for religion.

Religion at least has books to back up the claims, whether or not theyre true. all this 2012 theory has is a round calendar

Ye, a calendar in stone, more exact than our actual one, done how many years ago? But it's not even a theory, it's a myth.

Exactly! Like the world is already gone. What if they don't had time enough to make their calender finished?

I can't believe in it, I have a scientific mind, so I can't. Some persons say "The Mayas calendar stop the 21 december of 2012, it will be the end of the world!". And??
They have stopped it because they was exterminated and they hadn't the time to finish it. Just it!!
