Who says the mayans needed someone to tell them? Well actually they had their knowledge in astronomics from the olmecs, and last time I heard, we still don't really know how the olmecs got their knowledge. But I'm sure it's not from a divine source.

Alright, here's the explanation of why 2012 won't happen.
The Mayan Calendar is false because December 21, 2012 is just were they decided to stop. It's the same thing as why we decide to stop at December 31st each year, except their calendar goes over millennia. The only thing that could cause life as we know it to change in 2012 is if every major fault line in the world starts to act up, causing 8.0+ earthquakes EVERYWHERE in the same day, and the probability of that happening is slim to none. We would've noticed a meteor coming at us by now, or even another star as some people claim.
It is obviously a lie... Judgement day was at Saturday yet there was no descendant or deity from heaven. Y2K was also a lie with no technology going overboard. And the theory of 2000... well you know what imma saying, ami rite?!?! So no I do not believe. STUPID PEOPLE
The reason it might happen is because in the Far East they believe it means the fall of the West (USA, Europe, South America, Mexico, etc). North Korea may launch their nukes believing they are destined to win and rule, causing the end of the world.
