I totally agree with XVERB. Hope can never be totally lost, and should you get down, that's what friends are for. True friends would stick with you and try to help you.

I would turn around and pick it up. Just kidding. I would do as dair5 said, pick a way (preferably downhill) and stick with it.
I can't see myself doing that, as "losing track of time" implies that one is following some kind of specific schedule, and that they have to do something at a specific time....or else.
Schedules are for people with lives.
