What kind of strategy do you use for any game? This includes FPS games, board games, card games, or RPG leveler. Are you one to tank and grind out a win, or do you run and gun in your quest to one shot everything?
I found that to be true in most RTS games. Im a base builder more than anything. I like to amass an army and charge into the enemy base
Due to population control in Age of Empires 2 encroaching with Bombard Towers, Castles and an army of Villagers was a great idea, attempting to attack with flat units was pretty fatal as Bombard Towers 1-shot and with Walls were insanely difficult to get to.
That's why I like Starcraft II - there's no real way of doing that, not for long either.
finding weaknesses and killing off enemy units with lower tier units along with being sneaky sneaky.
Lower tier units are weaker in DOWC? What is DOWC by the way?
In Starcraft II it seems to work very differently. Tier 1 units can be effective against tier 2 units and tier 3 units can be effective against tier 1 units, and tier 2 units can also be good against tier 1.5 units.
It's all a mix, really -- but you always have options as long as you continuously tech to defeat your opponent. If the enemy is going Marines, I can go Speedling and if he has too many, Banelings. If he goes Marauders then he's soaking up Baneling damage.
So I could go Speedling and Roach, because Roaches roughly beat Marines in a 1:3 ratio, especially with Speedlings being able to surround and kill Marauders which counter Roach.
It's difficult to talk about since it's very situational. :P
Its far to easy to sidestep a noob while popping em in the head.
Sniping on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is always hard, which is why I like it.
When I come up against real leets I die, but when a leet underestimates me, they die too, because I am actually
In terms of Battlefield I find "leets" don't do as well as me. I use what I have, Scensors, Mortar Fire, and sniping key positions to my advantage, often I adapt and switch class to suit the situation which pays off greatly. A leet can have tunnel-vision and doesn't learn to zoom out of the scope and look at what he could do to be more efficient. :P
I am always a Aggressive player. Doesn't matter if I play a RPG, a shooter or a RTS/TBS, i am always the aggressor. Most of the time it works well, but so once in a while i lose and jam the replay button to try it again.
For strategic games like Starcraft, Civilization, etc I'm extremely aggressive, at least as much so as the pacing of the game itself allows. The early bird gets the worm and all that. I'm aggressive to the point of recklessness and it's often cost me matches, but hey, it's just a game.
Playing alone in RPGs or FPSs I'm usually pretty conservative, oddly enough. I'll explore every possible option before committing and attempt to learn everything I can about a given situation before acting on it.
Oooh I have grown to hate roaches. About the only anti rush tactic I know with terrans is block my entrance with supplys and build some marines
A deterrance to rushing is a Depot/Rax/Depot block with a Bunker. Marauders can outrange Roach so with a little micro your wall will keep you very safe and you should be able to defeat them.
Is it the 7 Roach Rush by the way? It only takes some scouting info to defeat that.
Now Baneling busts, that's a different story. Not difficult if you manage to scout it, you only need to thicken the wall by placing any production buildings behind the depots. Or a Bunker, however that can be dangerous to your units if they still manage to pop it.
DowC is Dawn of Warark Crusade
Ah, I know very little of Dawn of War. :P
Battlefield is one game I can snipe real well on. For some reason the bullet dip makes sense to me, even tho I disagree with it. Ah well.
I snipe well on it as well -- however I find it very difficult to shoot pilots out of the helicopter. When it works though? Amazing!
I dont think Iv been hit by that, usually 2-3 roach and a bunch of zerglings. Most of the time its just 2 zerglings which is nippy because it disrupts my SCV's as I have to use them to kill the wee gits.
Generally I now favour the marauders with some marines. It seems to really turn the tables at the early stage.

Lol, I have to admit I have only done this once, tho it was a cracker. I fired a hipshot from a sniper halfway across a rather large map and got him. Never again tho
I think I will start a thread about SC2 tactics, I need the help. Im more happy with myself now as I can now confidently whip a 1v1 normal AI ( hey, dont laugh :P )

Nice, generally I don't notice but not a lot of people know about Liquipedia. I'll link the Terran Strategy for you.

Well played good sir. I took out a guy on Death Metal with a sniper shot (scoped though), got 300 points as a result of Marksman Bonus. Very large distance indeed. :>

My name on Starcraft II is "Pride", if that helps.
I will be able to help you on different things that happen in a league match, I've seen a lot of pro games and I learnt a lot of things to help. I suggest you check out Day[9]'s #252 Daily because it can help you go much faster in the game.
Im more happy with myself now as I can now confidently whip a 1v1 normal AI ( hey, dont laugh :P ) Time to move onto a hard soon.
I don't like fighting AI, I just go into 4v4's to practice if I need it -- because it's more hectic and it is harder (thus better practice). :P
I'm aggressive, which probably explains why my K/D is not all that great. I get bored so easily so I just have to run in there guns blazin and blast people!
Thanks, that will give me some good reading a bit later
Good, hopefully you'll find a build suiting to your style, you'll probably enjoy Terran flexibility given the right build (1/1/1 build?).
Well played to you too sir Thats a hefty distance
You should've seen how I reacted, let's just say it went a little something like this.
Put together.
I will send you a message on SC2, my name is the same.
Good, I'll go on it now. :P
Also I thought I should watch some pro matches.
I think I've seen over 200... I have way too much time on my hands. :P
Totalbiscuit casts a lot of games and he even done a co-cast with oGsMC (kind of an all-star in Starcraft) only a couple days ago. Suggest you check it out, and all the other pro vids. :P

So.... First person shooters?
Agressive no matter the game, I dont have patience to wait around
It won't work out in a few different games - a vast majority against specific people? Of course. But ultimately it won't win everything. Of course there shouldn't (and usually isn't) a strategy that will win all others BUT that's the point - you should learn to adapt if ya can.
I usually go with whatever I think will work best. Most of the time, this is me scouting ahead and getting completely ready, but if I don't have time to do that I just try to do what they won't expect.
I'm a tactician for any game I play, even first person shooters.
In RPG's a make my decisions based on the future, but also trying to balance the present needs, needless to say I often end up a little too balanced.
In RTS's I sit back a little, but I send probes and small raids to test the mettle of my opponent. Depending on their reaction depends on how I respond and build.
As for FPS's I try and play a sniper whenever I can, but with every new shooter that class gets further obsolete (sad face). I prefer to hang back and pick off the enemy while my team moves into the clear. After a few kills I move to a new spot (if possible).
