What kind of strategy do you use for any game? This includes FPS games, board games, card games, or RPG leveler. Are you one to tank and grind out a win, or do you run and gun in your quest to one shot everything?
It really depends on the type of game I play; I'm a very versatile person that can adapt to most video games, even though I don't play anymore. If I play some hack and slash game, I'll be very aggressive instead of going for the long range approach - Take DMC for example; Trickster is one of the best choices, but it's so good it makes the game too easy, while gunslinger is a safe choice for beginners; I always go with swordmaster to take the foes head on. In games such as Fallout, I'll often go with a mix, which means I'll build my character as a strong fighter with useful skills, like max lockpicking and stealth perks. In Rpgs, I'll always try to find useful tactics to max out damage output. I remember that Xenosaga game where I used to give Jr hemlocks to bring him to 1 hp, and then equip him with a samurai soul; I started each fight with an overpowered storm waltz, often finishing the skirmish on the spot - God knows how long a Xenosaga battle can be. I guess overall, you could consider me a tactician since I always strive to find most efficient fighting approach; it's really up to the game.
Like, I'm aggressive in dmc, tactical in rpgs and awfully passive in stealth games like Mgs. I used to have a friend that played Mgs killing each and every soldier he found; I'm like: ''Hey, let's get all the dogtags without getting seen on european hardcore difficulty.''
I'm usually extremely passive, but if I want to see how I'll fare facing an enemy head-on (or if I'm just bored) I'll go full-scale aggressive. On Goldeneye Wii, I'll usually be passive at the start of the mission, do something stupid to get compromised, and open fire until I win.
I tend to get bored while playing games for a period of game and if I do I take an aggressive approach. Take CoD for an example, but if you do take an aggressive approach in CoD. 99% of the time you'll end up dying easily. Leaving your yourself in the wide open isn't always the best idea.
A lot of games need patience. But eh... stilla lot of other games don't need patience.
FPS: passive i mean im not legendary but im pretty good at them i still choose to be passive because i try to die the least times but thats just me card games: dude wtf? board games:in war board games like chess and risk etc agressive because if u just wait and defend and lose and gain in the end ull be in very hot water RTS: depends on the game games like age of empires and CAC u need to be assertive for a short time while u build your defenses then take a huge u turn and be totaly agressive but games like total war. it would be ideal if you were passive because when u r in the middle of the game and you have a big war on one side of the map you dont want to go attack weak settelments that belong to a strong empire then you would have to spread your forces thin which would make you vulnerable
I'm a tactician for any game I play, even first person shooters.
Umm.
Battlefield?
In RTS's I sit back a little, but I send probes and small raids to test the mettle of my opponent. Depending on their reaction depends on how I respond and build.
I like to consistently scout, directly countering their unit composition and if necessary / possible, opens up a Nydus Worm (tunnel) or Overlord Drop (flying units over to the enemy base) to take out their mineral line (resource gathering area) and cause internal damage (to units, to buildings, whatever works. :P )
As for FPS's I try and play a sniper whenever I can, but with every new shooter that class gets further obsolete (sad face). I prefer to hang back and pick off the enemy while my team moves into the clear. After a few kills I move to a new spot (if possible).
Again... Battlefield?
You can pretty easily open up points for your team if you have good communication and teamwork, granted, it may require more than some neat sharpshooting and mortars (perhaps an Assault using smoke?) but nonetheless that's the essence of teamwork.
RTS: depends on the game games like age of empires and CAC u need to be assertive for a short time while u build your defenses then take a huge u turn and be totaly agressive
Not necessarily, if a guy goes very early offensive and decimates your attacking force then proceeds to defeat your defenses shortly after (because I've played CAC and that MIGHT work) then you're kind of done for. If he goes solely on defenses and you waste those resources of units, especially in Age of Empires considering how well defensives do then it's a pricey disadvantage.
Send a scout, then adjust if ya ask me, there's no point having a playstyle in a strategy unless it's reactionary. If I see a guy turtling I'll take more resources, if I see a guy going for early offensive then quite often you'll find defensive capabilities exceed offensive in most games (Spine Crawler / Bunker / Photon Cannon in Starcraft, Walls and Towers in Age, Patriot Missile Tower / Fire Base / Tunnel System / Stinger Site / Gatling Gun / Bunker for CAC: Generals), if the enemy goes for early economy then you'll need to act fast and put on early pressure - especially if it's Age and the guy is putting up walls.
Or you could get onto his level, chances are you have a timing window where you can expand your economy faster than he can expand his (as he will hopefully be investing resources into defenses -- otherwise why not attack?), and then you build a larger force anyways.
I'm Zerg in Starcraft so I generally have to out-macro or swarm my enemies with the units at my disposal. I have very specialized units in the game which makes me require good reactions but it is very effective in any game, no doubt about it.
In RTS games, I'm always too passive, giving the opponent time and opportunity to launch a huge attack on my base. It's a bad tactic, but I just can't help it.
In FPS games, however, I'm usually way too aggressive. I tend to be impatient and reckless, and a little bit suicidal, so I usually just go Rambo on their *****.
In (MMO)RPGs, I tend to be careful, but not exactly passive. For example, if I tank in a group on WoW, I tend to move forward relatively quickly, while still not attacking more than I know I can handle. Careful enough to not get killed by the enemies, but aggressive enough to not get killed by my allies.
It depends, not only on the type of game, but parts of those games. Lets use Black Ops for an example. If I'm playing Domination on Array, I'll play offensively until we capture two flags, then I'll run between B and C in the building. But if I was playing TDM on Firing Range, then I'm going to be aggressive and continuously flip the spawn.
That's a very very good question. It's also a question that will lead to any good player's downfall when in a tournament of any type.
My reccomendation is to use well rounded strategies to keep any possible opponent guessing. Though for certain first person shooters you have no possible options other than to run and gun and hope you score the bullet kills. In many cases, I'm the kind of aggressive small-guns user that runs up to enemies to BLAT them right in the face, then run around continuing to shoot and kill until I have to reload, where I'd die soonafter.
In my favorite genre of game, the Real Time Strategy games of Age of Empires and Command and Conquer, I always prefer to use my strategy of "Sit in my base with a really big gun". What that means is that I'd stockpile resources and units to make my base nearly unstoppable. Then, when enemies bring up superweapons or nearly as powerful forces to counteract my own, I'd counter effectively, then lead a coutnerattack to their own base. Normally I can take out n enemy in a single run this way.
I'm hardly an aggressive player in RTS, and am much more defensive. I consider myself a "unit Turtler". When most Turtlers... turtle, they coat their bases in unreliable towers to cover all sides. I, on the other hand, use cheap and healable units that end up getting more and more powerful upon each kill I get (this is most akin to C&C). Hence, I usually have an unstoppable defense in that regard.
OH, I'm also keen to sneaking into enemy backdoors and then blowing the whole thing up. I'm good at doing that.
well, im kinda both, I start out usually aggressive, overly aggressive to tell the truth, and if it doesnt work too well, or at all, or even has a bad effect I will go passive.then if that doesnt work I try a more even gameplay style.
the best stategy i think is to set up defences and wait for the enemy to make a mistake works almost every time, nothing like getting a headshot from across the map when an enemy puts their head out exept two piecing
