To get a merit, you must post a lively comment the catches a moderator's eye. I understand that much, but do they check every game daily? How will we know when they check the comments?

There is no way to know when moderators are checking. Also, there are only 9 of them, which means it may take a very long time to check a good comment for a merit. A few months ago, I heard a rumor that only 30% of good comments are checked. Overall, merits are really hard to earn.

We check when we feel like it, usually one or two games, because we do have other obligations. Usually, if I'm playing a game, I'm more likely to check those comments while the loads. You never know when we check the comments or which comments we check.

Yeah, if users would behave a little more in the forums, it'd leave more time for the moderators to look at game comments ;o)

merits aren't just earned by comments, they can be earned from good activity, for instance helping out in a way that benefits other uses over a long period of time.

Also, there is another way to earn a merit. To win a contest. For AlexialsaEmo, check this threadfor more information about merits.

This is not true. Merits are given as contest awards every now and then (mostly in the art section), but just being helpful won't earn you a merit.
We do like helpful users, though.

Cormyn actually gave out merit to generally helpful people, but not for a specific comment.

That is.....Cormyn. An admin. Moderators have specific instructions on what exactly to merit and those are simply just game reviews and anyone who wins contest awards. It's not like we don't look at good comments or posts in good favor though. We love good comments and posts. We want more of them. They just aren't what mods look at for merits. :P

Is it okay if we re post a comment to make sure it gets noticed?

Nope. It is considered spamming to repost the same comments multiple times on one game.

There only needs to be one comment. If you post it, we will come (eventually)

Really, most of the comments are short and effortless. Anything a paragraph+ long will stand out enough for us to make our eyebrows twitch.

They have a censor installed in there brain. When it goes off, they know that a good comment has been made.

Quoted for truth.

Um, no. When our censor goes off, we know a bad comment has been made.

That is true, but that is not the only way. Another way is to add more moderators, which could also improve forum behavior.

Wha? We don't need more moderators to "improve" forum behavior...What kinda flim-flam talk is that? If users just behaved as they (were supposed to) read....More and more of us would be prone to scanning the comments for reviews!

When our censor goes off, we know a bad comment has been made.

You guys must have forgotten to give me anesthesia when inserting one into mine. And listening to headphones to not hear me scream.
