If there was an international crisis (such as the ever-popular and overused film topics like alien invasion or extreme climate change) could people of different/opposing nations be united for the same cause: Survival? or would people still be too divided on things like nationality, race, religion, etc.?

Hell no.
Wouldn't be division on nationality or race (Same thing? Related, at least.) Religions, maybe.

But I think everyone would be separated by local communities. After all, when a crisis happens I think most people would dig into where they currently are, rather than reach out.

If it was something that was revealed would 100% happen, all the evidence was there, and the only way to save mankind was for the superpowers to work together, then yeah they might as governments. But zydrate is right if i get what he's saying - we as people would stick to our closest friends/family in a crisis.

She.
I feel the need to specify, especially given my posts in various "Homoesexual" threads.

its posibble but i dont think wed do that. humans tend to hate anything that is different from them. starting from looks and ending in the way another person thinks. wed probably try that but i dont think we would be succesful

Humanity is already somewhat united in some places of the world, and that's even without a crisis. If there was a crisis, I think most countries would unite, even if some would think they'd be strong enough to take care of themselves.

im not sure about that. also, i think humanity means every single human. so if a whole country wont unite it still doesnt count (in my opinion of course)

Of course we "could". The thing would be why would we? I could not see a scenario where "working together" would be more beneficial than working separately. If there was an alien invasion that we can fight off with such weapons as nuclear weapons, then just a few countries just fending for themselves would take down their respective threats. For example, if there is a large ship over Russia and a large ship attacking America, each country fights off it's enemy separately and blows it to pieces with the objects created during the cold war. No teamwork required.

Yeah, 314d1, but assume it's like... a floating intergalactic bomb headed for Earth. Then I could see America's NASA and Russia's cosmonauts and whatever, along with the rest of the world giving financial support to some super-bomb/counter attack to prevent the destruction. I feel if there is something that could threaten the entire human race, governments could unite?

Oh of course, peace never lasts without a common goal or reason for unification.

I'd imagine if the entire world were to sink besides the USA, then the USA wouldn't be united for a very long time at all.

I don't disagree, but during their current state of affairs, i reckon they could.

All working independently. This isn't "Oh no! Humans, form the Megazord! *Cheesy power rangers music*" This is Russia: "Oh look! A bomb! We should probably do something about that before it kills us!" America: "Oh look. A bomb! We should probably do something about that before it kills us!" Etc acting independently.

And as I said earlier, either one of us can do it or none of us can. If that thing can be destroyed by a nuclear weapon, then just Russia acting alone can stop it. If it can't, then no matter how united we are we are dead. If that invasion can be put off by our weapons then one nation can fight it. If it can't then no matter how united we are we lose. Simple as that.

Probably. In the Maze runner series, after the world is battered by sun flares and a a horrible mind disease called the Flare, all the remaining governments join up to create W.I.C.K.E.D

Check my profile to learn the acronym.

Ok since there's a general consensus that of course not every single person would, could the militaries unite? or would they be too 'superior' to help and fight alongside other nations?
