Basically just a thread to rant about anything and everything. I won't bore you with rules or anything, just remember to stick to the community guidelines and don't let this get out of hand
Remember back when music was good without electronic assistance? One of my favorite examples is More Than A Feeling - Boston. Listen to the sustained, soulful high note at 1:13 (I think he's about 15 notes above middle c). No one does things like that anymore. Since the invention of Auto-Tune (heh it's auto minus tune) music has never been the same. They just turn a knob, push a button, and they can crackle out a stretched high note.

Like the "synthesizers" and stuff?
Well, I must say: today's music is not good as it was before. I like New Wave (aka lots'o'synthesized tunes) but I dislike today's music that use this along with other instruments or without other instruments.
No one make music anymore: they press buttons and wait the song to flow. What's the fun about this?
I'm fine with the occasional synthesized tune like Popcorn as well as ones with words that synth effects for rythm, but overstretched vocals are quite annoying. Now all someone has to do is talk, add auto-tune, add a beat, and it becomes a song. For example, MLKJ's "I Have A Dream" Speech, Charlie Sheen's Interview (although as a parody remix, it's not bad).
I don't understand why people take everything so seriously. It makes them look like they're socially inept. I'd add more detail to this, but it'd just make it look redundant.
EmperorPalpatine was commenting on heavy Techno - ish modding to songs. That bothers a little because no music is being made like it was before. And that... that's just annoying.
I don't know if there are more details to this, so... meh?

I'm going to talk about the opposite:
If you are going to joke, do it sparingly and in the right place. I know of a certain user (who will remain anonymous) who will refer serious people to WEPR (a place where joking is wrong) as well as joke excessively. I wish that user would be less jokey and attack the serious less, because if not, then joking could become an infection. I don't want that, so if what I said describes you, then do what I said to prevent infection.

Read descriptions of sub-forums if you want to use that. It's obvious to not joke too much in the WEPR since that place is mostly for serious responses, however, some serious people I've seen CAN'T differentiate jokes from seriousness, which makes them look socially inept and stupid through what they say. Joking isn't bad, as it lightens up the mood of things. If you are serious all the time as in commenting about everything seriously, then you'll just look like an idiot when doing so, because if you comment seriously about a joke, people will just see you as a person who can't understand jokes. Personally, I'd rather be jokey than serious all the time. Being serious all the time will just drive people away from you since they think you'll snap at them somehow if they don't answer something correctly and/or seriously.
There are a few people that frequent this forum that make it terrible by joking. They tend to go into threads quoting off-topic responses then commenting about them, posting something serious in every thread they come across even though some threads don't require it, questioning things most people do since it doesn't fit in with their perfect little world, and some other things. It just disrupts the community if you are serious all the time, not many people want to read "Hurr durr ur rong and im right because i answered seriously" "look at me im so right because of my serious responses"
I guess I should add something into the previous post. Taking everything seriously as in if someone is joking around, a person who can't differentiate jokes from seriousness will comment about how the person is somehow wrong, when the person is joking, it isn't meant to be right, it's meant to be a joke. Also these people take everything seriously, as in in every conversation they are in they must go for serious answers and responses, if someone doesn't give a serious answer, the person will argue with the person joking. It's not bad to be serious, but being serious all the time just makes you look stupid through your actions. Most of these people lack tact and thus resulting in them looking stupid when they comment about something.
As I said on a Forum game a few secs ago, joking exaggeratedly is too much, as absolute seriousness is too.
I guess your point is correct: to joke you must be on the right place. But not using total seriousness too. Sense of humour is good sometimes, but only on the right place.

Being able to joke and take things seriously is great. But being able to solely joke or be serious is bad as it disrupts things and irritates people. Joking about everything leads people to believe you aren't the type of person to discuss things with as they will just joke about everything and being serious all the time leads people to believe you are socially inept and probably have aspergers syndrome.
Eh.. it's not really stabbing people with words. It's just discussing something in a violent manner as you are aggravated about something. But I don't see how you got that from that post up there, I didn't directly insult people, I was just ranting about how I dislike when people are serious all the time and have no sense of humor nor tact.
