This show, for me, bring backs wonderful memories. As a kid - a little kid might I add - I would always imitate the actions and performances in the front lawn: jumping into karate poses. I agree with you with no hesitation. As I haven't seen the show in while, I still remember it very well.
Man, those were good times. =)
I think though that the course has gotten way to hard though.
Agreeable, but I'm actually fine with the fact. Not just because I enjoy watching them fail at times (Tee hee, I'm so mean) but also, it seems that as the course gets more difficult, the participants also improve; not as fast though.
I'm not sure which is the most entertaining--Watching 75% of the hopefuls fail on the very first obstacle in Stage1, or watching Makoto Nagano climb the rope and have your mind strained as the time ticks ever closer to zero, hoping that he makes yet another victory. It's a tough call; some of those guys are pretty hilarious. Nagano also makes humor in his runs. One time in the second stage, he had to climb through these rings and jump to the next platform. He slipped, but still made it, uttering a "woooooooooh" and smiling.

Personally I would say that watching someone on the final stage is a lot more entertaining. I always cheer for them. Sometimes the people in the beginning are funny like Octopus Man or the guy that got his pants stuck around his ankles. That guy was the best!
I'm a pretty athletic guy, so I'm pretty sure I could get past stage1, if not most of it. I'm not sure what would take place once I got to the Spider Crawl in stage2, however. I would either make it, not get anywhere, or get somewhere but then fall on my butt.
There is a show kinda like this, it used to go on but I think it got cancelled because of low viewers. Even though everyone loved it. Well, it's called MXC (stands for Most Extreme Eliminations). It's were a bunch of people have to do those stunts like crossing a small bridge while being hit by dodgeballs being shot from cannons. Or climbing up slippery steps while people shoot you with jets of water and throw huge balls at you. And my favorite, running at a wall with a hole covered in wallpaper with a door on it, and just a door painted on to the wall. Whoever gets to the otherside first wins. I used to love this show but it went on at a bad time, too bad it got cancelled.
The spider crawl is no longer in stage 2. It is now in stage 1 and is called the jumping spider because you have to jump off a trampoline to get into it.
The first stage proved to be very difficult with the returns of some of the old obstacles, but the new ones proved tougher, American Ninja Warrior probably replaced Ninja Warrior because G4 no longer shows any of the recent tournaments.

Correct me if I am wrong but they still do show the tournaments in Japan. There are 5 spots for Americans out of the 100 that do the course. American Ninja Warrior is the competition to see which 5 Americans will go to Japan.
I used to LOVE the original competition but now that G4 stole it, and replaced it with American Ninja Warrior, it's garbage. They don't show all the competitors, only Americans. I want to see ALL the competitors, not separated events. G4 is run by a racist imbecile!
I do enjoy the show alot, although i have only seen it twice. I do agree the obstacles are way too hard for the competitors, especially the cliffhanger. if no one can make it past that then maybe its time to rethink some of the obstacles.
