First, the 5.9 Earthquake, then one of the worst hurricanes: Hurricane Irene. Now Tropical storm Lee that has caused Destructible flooding. I think that U.S.A Will spend a lot of money for the hurricanes & the other disasters.

I hope that you know the US is by far not the only one getting natural disasters.. and partydevil is right, there ain't much to do but to repair the damages.

Errrr, what do you want us to do about it? We can't control mother nature, she does what she wants... If the US gets a lil storm and a couple floods, then deal with it! It's not like we can't handle it or anything... Many of those things that you said have happened in the past

Not trying to make a joke or anything, but I think Japan and Haiti have gotten some worse disasters than the U.S. ...just saying.

Are you serious? That is like... a baby compared to the rainstorms we have. Irene was NOTHING.

Well, it wasn't exactly nothing in the Bahamas, but in USA it was a pretty lame hurricane. The only reason people freaked out is because when a hurricane comes there way, it dissolves into drizzle before it hits them, while the people down south (me) get the full force. I'm not exempting it from being a natural disaster, but one a scale of 1 to 10, it was about a 1.

Exactly! And what about Hurricane Katrina? That was much worse than Irene.

Let me describe that earthquake in Virginia with a picture. http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/xx210/MikuMitsuki/ab1ceaf0-2838-4915-acea-bccc066d18be.jpg

8/23/11 : Never Forget.

But nevermind that we had much more horrendous storms before! Like the combined hurricanes in the few months of the season including Andrew.

Now, now, lets be fair, Irene did do its fair share of damage along the coastline, you have to remember that places like Virginia are used to calm winds the occasional thunderstorm, and maybe a little snow, which means anything greater than that automatically causes a panic.

Frankly I blame the news, all that talk about Manhattan going underwater, and the constant announcements about how bad it was. Tsk.

First, the 5.9 Earthquake,

That did surprise me, but if tension exists there, it has to be relieved sometime.
then one of the worst hurricanes: Hurricane Irene

I don't know if it was a BAD as it was RARE. Hurricanes don't typically head up the East Coast, so one of even minimal strength doing so is somewhat disgruntling. Once again, Hurricane Irene can't really be labeled as two worst damage-causer; however, it is important to note that its wind field was bigger than Katrina's.
Now Tropical storm Lee that has caused Destructible flooding

It was interesting how Lee stalled for a little while. It makes sense that there is so much flooding with such a slow-moving system, but I don't really think Lee was anything rare. Tropical systems in general have been scarce the past few years, so an increase in their commodity this year may seem shocking.
I think that U.S.A Will spend a lot of money for the hurricanes & the other disasters.

See Table 4 in this document.

The U.S. spends, on some occasions, over $20 billion a year on hurricane damage.

The seeming increase in natural disasters may also be attributed to the fact that sciences are much more exact, and the media much more hungry...

Even factoring the wind field, Irene was much more wet, than it was windy, I heard tale of the occasional uprooted tree, but flooding was far more common.

lolololol Irene doesn't even count as a hurricane, it was technically a 'tropical storm'. The only reason why it was covered extensively was because it hit places like Jersey and New York where hurricanes rarely hit.

Yep, it's extremely rare for a hurricane to hit us at all, and when it does, it's always a storm that has been severely weakened already.
