Hey guys I saw posts that said ask an atheist, ask a muslim, ask a hindu, etc. but I didn't see one for Ask a Christian so I decided to start one. So like the topic says ask me something!
So basically your just picking and choosing what you like and don't like?
No, i pick what i believe is relevant in our society - i'm not going to live 100% by a 2000+ society. It's against human rights to own slaves for example. Society back then had a different view on human rights, we however are educated enough to know it is wrong.
You just have to pray for like 3 weeks every day and ask God if He exists to let you know. He will enter into your heart and show you in a way that's just for you and then you'll know what direction to go.

ummmm...I don't think you really need to do that. you can just look around, see the beauty in things, and then read the scriptures a little (depends where you read tho, some stuff is kinda strange) and decide if you feel anything from the experience.

if that was true im sure we all wouldnt mind trying it and we would all be be christians. now you will say that only if you truly believe it will happen.... then whats the point in doing that??? if god would want us to believe in him he would use a much easier method like... telling us?
But he is telling us. We just have to use a completely unreliable subjective method of determining that he is.
Looks like artificial/natural selection to me if you believe without proof you are likely to spiritual survive. To bad they can't reproduce then we would have artificial/normal evolution.
I go Church myself, as I like the Church environment. I get to meet other Christians on a weekly basis and learn more about the Bible/Jesus/God/Holy Spirit although I don't believe you have to go to church, God can meet you anywhere. Like the old saying goes: Going to Church doesn't make you a Christian just as much as standing in a garage makes you a car.

Very good outlook blkasp. When you say meet other Christians, do you get the chance to talk to them? My local church is very stiff, it's more people who just want to show themselves - not to mention they provide kids 'mass' (which i used to take). It's like a dumping ground.
However i did go to a charismatic church for a bit, and getting to know other Christians there was amazing.
in the lds doctrine, we believe there is more than one planet with life on it (not the UFO stuff, but people like us, who believe in god as well). so my question to anybody who reads this, if we do discover life on other planets, and they are similar, will you become a member of the lds church, but if the life on the planet is not like ours, will you become an atheist? I ask this because god created us in his image and those beings aren't in his image. bear in mind, this is completely hypothetical.

I don't think life on other planets is connected to religion (My view). There is people who believes in life on other planets but does not tie themselves to a religion - so i don't think many people will become Mormon if it's found out.

hehe, just thought I'd ask is all. I asked because the thought came into my head when I was in my LDS class (not a real class, but I don't really know how to describe it any other way) I heard an interesting piece of doctrine in the pearl of great price.
