Is religion really that important? If someone is not the same religion as you, should you call them out, reject them, and/or shove yours down their throat. Religion should no be a deciding factor. Yes, you can have your own religion, I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is religious bias, discrimination, and pushing your religion o others when they are truley happy with their own. I find it disgusting when people get so overworked about someone not being a certain religion. Who cares? Does it make them a bad person? No. It makes them themselves. That is about all I have to say for now.
)) ..i respect your opinion but i cannot believe The world was created accidentally .. thats why i believe in God..but we neednt divide ourselfes because of religion .
So your saying the belief of a supernatural being that has no evidence of either this being existing or a supernatural state existing is rational? Simply believing this based on one's emotions is not rational and these beliefs CAN then impede ones ability to rationally view other subjects presented to them, as you now have to try and fit this presumed conclusion in.
Religion isn't the only thing that CAN cause irrational behavior. Every heard of a little thing called the Nazi party? Or perhaps Communist Russia?
If you want to believe in a Religion - of course, but I truthfully cannot see a "true" religious person not wanting a hinderance on scientific advances made that go against religion etc. I think I put it in the wrong way. I just think that anyone who believes in the tenants of a religion (faith, love, etc... note the faith part) would be naturally untolerant of other beliefs that are contradictory to it.
That is not true. Most people that I know who do not belong to my religion (Judaism) respect me for not believing in Jesus. The issue arrises when people take religion to extremes, and start murdering people or forcing a Spanish Inquisition type senario where other religions are force-converted into one different religion.
Have you seen me being for either? Since we have now entered Godwin territory anyway, Hitler did use religion to further such agendas.
I'm not accusing you of being merely either. I'm saying there are a lot of things that can cause irrationality, and many of them aren't religious. And as for Hitler using religion to further his agenda, Stalin used industrial fervor, but that doesn't need to be completely condemned for being irrational, does it?
god is a product of the religions wich is a product of humans which distirbute people.
actually if religion is true then religion is the product of god (i think)
Most people that I know who do not belong to my religion (Judaism) respect me for not believing in Jesus.
are you sure about that? did you ask them? im sure most of them respect you as a person and thats it like we should all do. we dont just respect people when we find something we have in common (even though it would be kind of convenient to all of us)
I thought of maybe giving this it's own thread but since we seem to already have several going this one seemed like the best place for it.
What is it I'm talking about? Why Blasphemy Day Of course! The is a day to openly blasphemy against religion as a means of supporting free and speak out against various blasphemy laws around the world.
So today when you want to call religion a complete load and God is nothing but a fairy tale made up by ignorant goat herders, you do it not just to be critical about the beliefs as you would be with anything else, but to also help support free speech for the world.
"We think religious beliefs should be subject to examination and criticism just as political beliefs are, but we have a taboo on religion," -Ronald Lindsay
you know... the more i read your comments the more i think that instead of just being an atheist you devote your whole life to being against religion... you do realize that even atheists ignore comments like those?

Actually outside of places like this where I can voice my opinions and ideas I'm relatively silence.
you do realize that even atheists ignore comments like those?
I was trying to come off as just being melodramatic with it and only used the more insulting tone to keep in with spirit of the day. Anyway this is similar to the Draw Muhammad Day.
ok... but just calm down... because its not the first comment i didnt bother to read to the end that was written by you XP. some people might get hurt and others might just find you annoying and that can make your future comments that are actually smart to be ignored

I'm calm, I guess I just failed a bit at trying to convey the intended message. Since I'm usually normally critical of religion on here I was finding it hard to intentionally do it rather then just let it naturally come out.

Far as I can tell some people find my smart comments annoying.
