We have heard of all this family. But why so many kids??? I saw the commercial before I watched it on tv and the commercial was like "the have a special announcement" and I was thinking, "wow wonder what it is". I am just confused and curious about all of this. Why the kids? Why have more? Health risks? What is your opinion? Here's the article
it's probably a good idea to quit getting pregnant.
that it would be after the 5th. (my opinion 5 is realy a max (for myself the max is 0 =) ) but they don't stop because of their religious believe and so they also wont stop when she is a grandma either..
Well, even if you love children, twenty is a lot. Ever ask your parents which one they like more, you or you sibling? Well, they can't say, "I love all twenty of you equally".
they can't say, "I love all twenty of you equally".
i guess they can when they add something like "because you all are a gift from god himself" (thats what a other family whit the same believes and 18 children said on tv)
Anyone watched cheaper by the dozen its a must see movie.
That's a little irrelevant don't you think?
Personally i think that they can have as many kids as they want if they can take care of them and i'm sure they can with all the money the get form the show.

A little bit. But honestly, I dont have any idea what kind of mindset a person would have to have in order to do that. Of course it makes no difference, they will do what they will do. But the more children, the much greater the health risk of the next being born.

Quite true. In fact, as I'm sure you've all heard by now, the 20th child was a miscarriage. I'm fairly sure that the human body was not designed to handle that many pregnancies. Still, I hope that they take this as a sign to stop have children; 19 is enough. On a bit of a strange note, they still plan on naming the child, and then having a funeral for it. WTF?

Probably a religous thing. If anyone of you doesn't know, they are using god as an excuse to keep having kids, saying it is a duty he bestowed on them. -_-
It is so because germany and EU have a very low population growth rate.
Rubbish. Germany has a comparable birth rate to most Western nations. The child allowance is in place to ensure no child is born into complete poverty. We have the exact same system here in the UK, although the amounts reduce the more children you have.
Why shouldn't they have as many children as they wish to have? The argument that the parents can't give the children attention, a big family substitutes for that. The elder children give attention to the younger children and help out more, learning more about responsibility in the process.
I have 3 children and would have gladly had more if it were not for the chances that there could be birth complications. I would prefer to have a smaller family and still have my wife than a larger family and risk my wife's life.
With this particular family though, it is more than likely that they are taking the Bible literally and not using contraception. They probably believe it is God's will, so they procreate on the basis that if there is a pregnancy, it is God who has decided, not them.

A fertility rate of 1.41 (Germany) may appear comparable to one of 2.01 (France) if you consider that 1.4 is close enough to 2, but in reality they are vastly different. Germany DOES have a huge demographic problem and are trying to encourage procreation; this is however somewhat hidden by immigration. But with the current fertility rate, Germany's population is set to decline rapidly.
I do agree however that children allowances in the EU are there to protect the rights of the children to grow in a healthy environment.
Now, regarding the topic at hand, I still think that even if you do apply the Bible literally and decide not to use contraception, you would not have an average of 15 children... You have to actively TRY to get anything above 10. After all, there are only 3-4 days every month where the conditions are right for a woman to conceive. A large proportion of Christians do not use contraception methods but they don't have 15+ kids...
