A lot of game developers have been talking about this idea. Just imagine, Xbox Live players playing against or with PSN players. This can put an end to the console wars and perhaps make gaming a bit funner. That and all of us can team-up against the Wii gamers.
How about Xbox - PC gaming. Most computers run on Windows, which is owned by Microsoft the creator of the Xbox. But I think it would be a great idea, and a fun game that pc, ps3 and xbox players fight with each other, against each other.
I think it's said to be happening, PC to console gaming. I'm assuming if they did that it would be pretty easy to have PS3 to Xbox.

Which would be absolutely fantastic, because it would put a stop to friends having to make sure they own the same console. My brother's friend recently sold his Xbox and bought a PS3 so they could play together. Had this been implemented, he wouldn't have had to do that.

it is probably more possible for PC to Xbox 360 than PS3 to Xbox 360 since they're both Microsoft. I think it would definitely be fun if the PS3 players could play with Xbox 360 players.
Microsoft and Sony will never have a cross platform play between their systems. Besides for the fact it's probably impossible to do without purposefully engineering each system and OS to do be able to do it, it's provides no incentive to buy either system and presents no benefit to either company.
The reason this is never done in a competitive game (unlike co op) is because one system always provides an advantage (usually PC has it).
Examples of cross platform gaming has been presented in a game featured as a "WTF Is ?" video done by TotalBiscuit - even linking a phone with consoles was possible I believe.
Cross console gaming to me is meaningless, although being as those who are casual gamers, generally, do like to play with eachother I could easily see this being very beneficial. To any company honestly. You want Uncharted but your friends and their dog play Call of Duty -- get a PS3 and it doesn't matter. Or you want Halo but you want to play something else that's more PS3 based.
yes that would be good for some things like playing with friends but there needs to be competition between the console makers to incourage them to make a better game system
PC to console gaming would be quite unfair in some competitive game because of the difference between a gamepad and a keyboard and mouse. Unless PC-gamers would be using gamepads or console-gamers would use a keyboard and mouse (that's possible these days, right?).

I have played games with cross platform pc-xbox and its actualy really funny because im like the only one there that uses a pc while everyone else uses xbox. Accuracy with the mouse really is an advantage that is clearly seen while playing cross platform though so there is some problems with that for counsel (so they should all just get PC =))

unreal tournament 3 was the 1st unreal for cross plantform. and epic games thought that it was oke to take the speed of unreal out of the game and make it more console friendly. flopping the entire game, killing the whole serie.

Haha at that time I wasn't allowed to play M rated games so I only saw commercials and stuff and I always wondered why was it going so strong and all of the sudden the games just stopped happening and unreal now is being used in other games instead.
I heard that MW3 also did something like that to make it more "fair", I never liked the cod series anyways...
I never like how they try to make it more counsel friendly when counsels are trying to be more like computers. I suggest people just join the pc gamers and not have to be slaves to a brand of counsels because once a new one comes out the old counsel becomes obselete and I have a PC that outlived ps2 and xbox and still can run new games.
the unreal game serie is what epic games uses to to show what their new unreal engines can do. the unreal engine was there already way befor unreal tournament 3.
to bad your so young tho, you missed the best era of online shooters. shooters of today are lame.
