Yes. Read that again. Vietnam War Opinions, not facts. So, post whatever thoughts you have about that war, e.g. whether you think it was worth it, etc. Also, keep in mind that you should justify your opinions if it is strongly biased.

I hope this isn't a dup!

Here's how I see it: Even if it loses lives, money, and time, even if it was a bad idea to get into a war, if you are in a war, you are not fighting to FIGHT! You are in this war to WIN it. But that didn't happen, thanks to hippies, bad leadership, more hippies, even more hippies, and more bad, half-hearted leadership.

Not to mention the Vietcong, which basically kicked the USA's *** single-handedly. And are you blaming hippies that wanted US to pull out because they were losing lives pointlessly?? That seems a bit naive to me.
Give one reason why the hippies made the USA embarress themselves in that war.

Yes, but you can't win when moral is low and your home country is opposed to it. So are you saying that you would sacrifice as many lives as possible if it meant a victory in an insignificant war in a country that really is no true threat to anyone, besides maybe themselves? (Middle east anyone?)

the usa was picking up hippies that were doing drugs. the judge then gave them 2 options. 1: go to jail for 5 year. or 2: go fight in vietnam for 1 year and you will get a basic training of 2 weeks befor.

hippies are as we all know friendly loving people. many feared the sight of 5 year in jail whit rapist, murderers, etc etc. they believed that they would not stay alive in jail for 5 full years. (all right they had) so many choosed for the 1 year serve in vietnam. and told themself and others to just not shoot the enemy out of love.
so then the usa had a load of hippies in vietnam that didn't shoot and only used drugs. (not shooting in war is losing the war and alot of dead hippies.)

however. here is a articel that tells what realy went on in the vietnam war considering american drug use.

Didn't most of them go to Canada? And then Carter pardoned them.

I just think the United States just likes to go to war a lot. For example, they were the first country to respond to this crisis. Then, they fought with a low morale (To stop communism). And at the same time, their country was hating on themselves, with all of the college campus protests and stuff.

whatever you think about the war, that we should or shouldn't have been over there, I can't stand the people who insult the American soldiers who were there. They did the duty without question. You have to respect the our soldiers for that.

You can't blame the Vietnamese for hating and insulting the Americans after they practically destroyed their nation by dropping more tonnage than what was dropped in WWII.

Most Japanese and American soldiers who fought in WW2 get along just fine now. They realize both sides were just doing a job. Both put the past behind them.

I don't think the American soldiers really tried. I read somewhere that basically the goal for the GI's was to stay alive in Vietnam. Then, after a year, they would get to return. And by the time they were ready to go back, they were already experienced with the jungle, so that was another disadvantage.

I believe the war was a very important one. It was too bad that that was the only war we lost.

Well, they weren't ALLOWED to try. They had the equipment to fight the war, but the generals in Washington wouldn't let them.

atleast 3 others:
the war of 1812, the alamo war & the war on terrorism (al-qaida, beating all terrorism was lost the moment you started it).

there are so many storys about the reason they lost. all the story's created so that it will always become a debate. no1 knows. in the end YOU ARE THE LOSER. just face it.
