If the title is confusing, pretty much I'm asking this: If you were a [wood/platinum/gold] [serf/squire/knight/lord/duke/prince/king], how much forum posts should you have? I've seen some users who are knights with 1200+ posts. Then, I see princes with <200 posts. So. . . How much forum posts do you think is reasonable for each rank?

Note: If you're asking, "Does it really matter?" No, it may not. But the reason why I'm asking this is because out of the 'games rated', 'comments', etc. the forum posts one is probably the most useful.

This could be determined easily if we could determine what % of your AP comes from forum posts. Perhaps we should determine that first, then figure the reasonable post counts from there.

That's actually a good idea! I decided to calculate them myself.

Me: 19%
Patty: 36%
Jeol: 14%
Cen: 64%
Dragonico: 3%
Frank: 59%
Voidy: 34%
Strop: 50%
Nicho: 38%

Huh. So mods generally will have more forum posts. I guess the "normal" user should have 20-25%, and the over achievers will have 30%+.

I don't really think there is a given amount of posts that you should have per rank, since every method of getting AP is subjective. Even merits, if you find out every merit given was from a contest instead of bestowed upon a review. Your comments could be really awesome, or your forum posts could be the bare minimum for keeping alive. It could also be from what you as the user want. Having forum posts means participating in the entire community. If you want to show your opinions and to have the community know you in a way, then you'd want a good number of forum posts. You could have 1500 comments total to become a Knight, but your reputation wouldn't be known as much as someone who gains 3000 forum posts.

Lol, I'm on the list. And no, it's not overachieving. If you read the NES or Aftermath where many of the Top 100 got their Forums posts/points, you would see how.....pointless (sorry) or mindless they are.

For me, and this is my very narrow point of view, I would say that a thousand to two thousand posts is sufficient to render you on the radar of respectability for most; shows you're more active and care to take part in the open. Again, that's my opinion.

Of course, subject to the usual debatable criteria and circumstances, yada yada.

I might have a huge number of posts, but on the other hand, it has been ages since I rated a game. Or played a game to the end. Games are just not where I am at, because it takes time and effort to go beyond simply playing a few levels and leaving it.

At the same time, I am sure the game oriented people are feeling the same way about posts. They take time, effort, brain power, and the mods will be at your throat if you start spamming the forums. If you spam the game comments, they will still be at your throat, but you might have ten minutes longer to say your goodbyes and such.
Game comments are easier. They count for more, they can be hidden old games where the mods might not venture as often. Post can't be hidden in the same way. Post say a lot more about your personality, they give you a better reputation...

You could get king without even making a post. Will that make you feel good? Probably. Will this interest people in any way? Most likely not. But if you feel like you have achieved something by making comments and rated games and such, well... Then the forums are just not for you, because no one here wants to speak with someone that is full of themselves after making half a million comments.

Basically, some people shouldn't have a single post. It's just not worth it, because they have nothing to add to the forums, they will get known as spammers or morons or whatever someone might call them, and nothing good will come out of it.
Others, usually the ones that found the forums when they first ventured to the site, the ones that lurked and posted and got to know the community before they added themselves to it, they will have a high part of their AP come from posts, but those posts are earned and they score has to be high, otherwise they wouldn't be who they are, or where they are.

It's just, really, not something you could put a score on.

And a tl;dr because I have a hard time focusing:
You can't make a requirement for this. Some people are not fit for the forums and we like it like that, while others could have been born here.

I did that on purpose. Because I believe you are farming AP by going through the leaderboards and posting "Wow! You are ranked __ and have almost __ comments!"

Low Forum Posts =/= AP Farming, but it can. However, if it did for dragonico, the mods and admins would surely have caught him by now. Therefore, I do not consider low forum posts to be a problem. Instead, it simply shows more interest in games and/or conversations than forums.

Yes I know that.

But moderators do not have all the time in the world to delete all the comments and unrate all the games. . .

I'm not talking about deleting bad comments, I'm talking about finding them. Just because someone has not had a comment deleted doesn't mean they didn't spam.

I have the urge to defend a certain user and, at the same time, the whole AG community in general here... because in my opinion, what is going on here is merely trying to define every user as you yourself seem fit...

Gather'round thee knight's table and hearye...

If you're saying that a particular user is AP-farming by addressing every user on the leaderboard, then you're practically pointing fingers at more than 50 percent of the new users here on ArmorGames.
For example: I'm pretty high up in the ranks and I get a lot of new users writing comments to me saying they think my rank is great and that I have a lot of AP and you know what? That's perfectly legit and there's no problem there whatsoever. If they would write that comment 5 times in a row, that's simple spamming... and another story...

In my opinion, you're farming AP if you're

- writing game reviews containing nothing but "hi", "good", "8/10" or "s****";

- writing comments to yourself through an alt account (which is NOT allowed and will result in a temp-bann and ultimately a perma);

- making thread posts containing nothing but "hi", "hello" or "I agree"...

And as long as the comments and posts are containing a well constructed sentence, commentary or question, nothing's the matter with them and are considered a friendly and normal way of communication on this website.

All for AG, AG for all!!

[/RANT]

And since you feel like doing the right thing, why not ask a mod to close this thread, since it IS becoming a specific user-targeted one... just giving a hint!

Ok then. Let me change that. As far as the

Then change that to

What MrDayCee said: No pointing your fingers at specific people in the forums. The only thing you are doing is getting yourself in trouble for harassment and libel.
If you think someone is breaking the rules, go to a mod. Report them, end of freaking story.

Huh huh really? like skater?

I didn't know you didn't like Skater.

I had people in mind that would be better off not going to the forums and getting themselves in trouble. Thankfully, most of those people only visit once or twice a week, but I think they would enjoy the site more if they kept from trying to use the forums, and just stick to the comments and rates and that.
They would not have to deal with the "You know, the rules are there to be followed and 'me too' is not more than seven words", and the rest of us wouldn't have to deal with the 'me too', 'yeah', 'lol, i think so too' on the forums.
Win/win in my opinion.

One last thing:
Mods doesn't unrate games. They don't try to clean up entirely after a spammer either. They let the admins deal with that, if it ends up being too much trouble.
So, if someone actually does spam-rate/spam comments, they would be found, they would be banned, and their stuff would be deleted.

But back on topic...
Uh, no requirements, some people should stick to comments and rates for their own and my sake, newbies should lurk more before they start doing anything, whether it is rating or posting or changing their armatar.
Yup.

They had feuds. And I respectfully disagree. Skater was a bucket of fun and laughter back then when he was posting, especially in the AMV and Tavern. Don't appreciate anyone slandering a friend.

for their own and my sake,
