Since Christianity FTW is a debate between christians and atheists I decided to make a new thread for a debate between christians and christians alone.
This is a debate between christian who have a different veiw of the bible, how to get to heaven, etc. It's about the types of christians and which ones are right and which ones are wrong. There are Roman Catholics, methodists, baptists, etc each with a different veiw of the bible.
This is a debate between the christians. State what type of christian you are and explain why you think being this type of christian is the right path.

But how would they be able to prove it wrong? I happened thousands of years ago. And there are no eye witnesses. They can say it probably didn't happen but nobody who was there is alive now.
Check out my example. One doesn't need to be around to say something happened. Just like you wouldn't need to be around to see it happen to conclude a car accident happened if you passed two smashed up cars on the road. We also use this same method to determine what happened in homicide cases.

And when there's no body, no blood, no murder weapon, no evidence of any kind, the person who claims there was a murder is stuck with the burden of proof.

No they're not, the methods used are the same. We gather hard evidence and try to recreate what happened and by doing so rule out possibilities.

Yes for us to say something took place we need to find the evidence of it taking place. In the case of a homicide we need to find the body with the patterns of a murder taking place. In the example I cited we need the water and the geological evidence of such a flood taking place.
If we find no body and no patterns of murder we rule out a homicide taking place. If we find there isn't enough water on the planet and no geological evidence of a global flood we rule out that a global flood took place.
Lots of religions fall under Christianity. I might be a little different here.. but I'm Seventh Day Adventist which means we go to church on Saturday. I think my religion is the right one because we are the only ones who keep the 4th commandment which is to keep the Seventh day holy.

They are exactly different religion so much as deference denominations of religions. But yes there are a lot with over 34,000 denominations of Christianity.

The English Bible texts were translated from the original Hebrew books (obviously) and in the process of translating, some of the Hebrew words' meanings were lost or mistranslated. This passage is a good example. In the Hebrew scripts, the word shavat, which can mean "to rest" but is more commonly used as "to cease (from work)". Hence, God didn't rest, he ceased working.

But just in case you haven't heard it enough, by believing, I meant that a person has to believe that he is the Messiah. It's believing in the concept of Jesus. What did Jesus do after he died? He resurrected. That is a miracle by definition. If you don't believe in that, then not only do you not believe in the power of God, you deny him as well.

Why yes it can mean cease rather then rest. However We get a bit more information as to why God ceased on the seventh day as he is handing out the commandments in Exodus.
Exodus 31:17 (American King James Version)
It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Here it makes reference again to God resting or ceasing, but mentions that doing so refreshed him. The word used here is nafash and it appears three times in the Bible all of which meaning "to take breath, refresh oneself". In other words God ceased work and refreshed himself. Pretty sure that's what we call resting.
Also just for kicks let's go back to Gen 2:3 and use another definition of shavat in the place of rest.

It's true that if god would have actually rested, that would make his omnipotence arguable. But then, why is sunday considered a holy day where we rest?

But you have to ask, misinterpret in relation to what? In religion course, we've been told that he actually rested. You think he did not. But as far as I know the bible offers few indications about what is actually meant, and this is why there are divergences. So there's no 'misinterpretation', just interpretation.
Which is regrettable since it has grave implications for things like the validity of a holy day or the dubiety of gods omnipotence.
However, no matter what denomination, there's one thing most christians and even most religious people (falsely) assume: atheists 'turned away' from all deities. I think this comes from a mix of unquestioning belief and lacking empathy common to all religious zeal.
