Just wondering, my personal favorite is the original Friday the 13th. Just because it's where the whole series started. What's yours? Leave a replay!

I'm not going to even linger long on the wiki page of this movie. Watch at your own discretion.

Zombie movies are more gore fest and action for me than horror. It's so cliched at times.

I don't think 28 Days Later falls into the "Gore" category. I mean, yes there is some blood and such, but it's not gore for the sake of gore. It is genuinely scary, and they do an excellent job of creating the mood and atmosphere with a killer soundtrack.

The Thing or Alien. Just the suspense is too much. And the original The Thing.

Wow, so many movies I like and liked. I don't know, how about 28 days, 28 days later, The Exorcist, The Gate and the Fearless Vampire Killers (more fun than scary).
Also a movie I saw when I was too young to watch. I don't know the title but it was about some undead Nazi commando. They would slowly come out of the muddy water or swamp and kill people from behind.
I wish I knew which movie it was. I was about 7yo when I saw it and it really scared me.
The Fog (80's version), and Prince of Darkness from John Carpenter, Halloween and Halloween 2, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing (80's), The Shinning (also 80's)just to name a few. Also the movie X-Tro kind of creeped me out.

It is genuinely scary

I didn't think 28 Days or 28 Weeks Later were that scary. They were like Resident Evil for me; more action than horror. However it would be far more scarier if that actually did happen one day. Imagine trying to outrun those things.

I agree with all of you who commented on cliched zombie flicks, yawn. 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later both are Film Noir or, dark films that go against the main stream of the ho-hum, same old movie in this case a horror movie.

I like them both but 30 Days of Dark actually made me sit up straight when the ugliest vampire opened his mouth. I found myself looking for the closest door and I was at home, lol.

Two others I've seen that were more a tragedy vs the horror genre are, Frozen and The Canyon. I still get creeped out every time I watch The Thing, Alien, Aliens and Jeepers Creepers, 2.

If had to pick one, The Thing would get my vote because even though I know what's coming I still find myself getting fidgety when the dogs start barking and clawing to get out of the pen, good stuff.

Jeepers Creepers, 2.

I forgot about this one. It's a pretty creepy movie.
I still think that X-Tro was disturbing but I don't quite know why it gave me this impression. I need to watch it again. The only problem is that I never saw it on American TV.
Also the movie Phantasm (not 2,3,4,or 5) was great. I have the soundtrack.
When the tall man grabs the casket from the hearse by one end and carries it like it was made out of cardboard (which it probably was) while the kid is watching, hidden behind a bush. I gotta watch that movie again. It's a good film to watch with your new GF. You can be sure she'll hug you many times. xD

I find most monster films more action than horror, but yes, The Thing takes it to a higher level, because of its terrifying vagueness and constantly transforming gruesome appearance.

Ah, horror movies. Too much to choose from and too many categories.

My favourite "horror" movie is probably Karla, as it's very, very messed up. I don't really get scared watching horror films (About ghosts etc) so i consider horror just sickening killer movies likt run b*tch run and i spit on your grave.

Did I really see someone post that the Shining was a Horror movie?! Man... I must be living on another planet then, because there was nothing horror about that! Really vague and a 'bit of a bloody thriller' at best for me... =/

Nah, I would go for either anything Zombie related (braaaaiiinnnzzz!!) or Poltergeist instead... and that's a classic horror that still entertains me from time to time! =)

hmm im not a huge horror movie fan, but scream was pretty good, only cauz some of it was funny. but the sequels killed it, i mean come on people, how many times can 1 person be attacked by a random person in a mask, watch her friends die and still not be dead? and why dont the cops do anything? its just so stupid after the first one, maybe after the first 2, but after that it went downhill. i like action and comedy movies, so im not too big on the real horror movies, i find them dull at times. so that being said, cloverfield was ok, even though i have not seen it the whole way strait through.... and of corse their was psycho, but its just too old now to be really entertaining in my opinion, but it was nice i guess.
