I am extremely excited for number 3! It looks amazing and I felt like the AC series was important enough to me to make a thread so, put anything AC related down below...

The Assassin's Creed series once sparked life and hope in my ears. Now its a stagnant dull hum alongside the likes of Call of Duty. It makes me sad to see such an innovative franchise give up so easily.

Since the setting will be American Civil War I don't think I'll like it. Bringing all those guns into the game ruins it for me, it doesn't feel like AC anymore. I also imagine getting annoyed by getting shot constantly. I would much prefer if they went farther back in time instead of ahead.

Isn't AC all about the incredible innovation and change between time periods to match the quality of the various numbered entries in the franchise? It's new, but the firearms in the Revolutionary War were so unreliable in one-on-one combat that the melee is sure to be a mainstay. Even if, I'm interested to see how a bit more firearms display will showcase itself in an AC setting.

I also imagine getting annoyed by getting shot constantly.

The lack of rifling combined with the overall shabbyness of 18th Century firearms is likely to only cause minor annoyances. Really not the most accurate weapon.

I would much prefer if they went farther back in time instead of ahead.

Yes, but farther back in time would keep the same basic mechanics as AC1, all melee with a general overarching religious scheme to it. A Russian, Japanese, or Danish/English entry would be great, but this American one has quite a bit to potentially bring to the table. It's been three games of hard stagnation, let's see if AC can't prop itself back up again.

I really felt that after assassin's creed 1 and 2 the game really lost it's stealthiness aspect and that made me stop buying them, but if this one bring back the actual difficulty in fighting then I'm all for it.

Guys it was because they were working on AC3 during those games secretly, they almost wanted you to give up hope and then Bam! AC3 right in your face. I also gave up after Revelations, but when I heard that they were working on AC3 the whole time, Hope revealed itself to me. Anyway I think it would be nice to change from the Italian Renaissance to a fresh, new setting. I shall miss Ezio, but Connor looks like a fun, new character.

So back in the time when Ezio was alive the pistol he used was always accurate and the guns enemies used would always hit (I believe enemies had a rifle in AC:R and possibly AC:B, and it would always hit), but these new weapons will be inaccurate? I hope you're right.
but if this one bring back the actual difficulty in fighting then I'm all for it.

It'd be good if they could bring in a more in depth combat system. My main problem with the fighting was that the enemies seemed too easy (I'm not sure if you could change the difficulty) and there weren't many combat moves.

Assasins creed always gave me problems. The game was alright but it has about the worst controls in a game. Also there was no need to be stealthy most of the time because you could outrun and hide everything.
But still I thought it was a good game and every time I play Grand Theft Auto I wish I could climb building and things. It would be pretty cool to have Assasins creed in a modern time and be able to steal cars and be some kind of hired thug of the type

Yeah,, I agree with Mr._Sand I don't know why so many people hate the idea of a future setting. I think it would be awesome to climb on modern buildings and stuff, maybe it is because nobody would use a hidden blade or wear those clothes. I would like to use unadvanced guns such as muskets but AC turning into a sniping game would not be a good turn for Ubisoft. Maybe it would not be too bad if it turned into Splinter Cell kind of future stealth warfare.
I also completely agree about diffuculty settings. After AC1 counter kill was instant death they should make the game as diffucult or harder than AC1. I doubt they will do that though, because they said AC3 will be a good starting point for new fans to start playing the series. And I feel like they focus too much on multiplayer and make the main story dissapointing. It is called Main story for a reason Ubisoft!

Did you play on pc? Because on pc the enimies in AC1 could cancel the counter kill

"Hello, I am Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and this is *******."

Just kidding. Loved the gameplay of AC:R. I wonder what AC3 will use to surprise us.

If you watch the trailer for the new Assassins creed, you get a lot of people arguing about the American war of Independence which is annoying as it ruins the game.

It is a slightly controversial setting but people need to grow up, it's just a game, the people commenting on the you-tube video should look at this page and understand that no one actually cares what coloured pixels on your TV resembling people you are killing, we like the game for what it is.

That said I'm still deciding whether I'm going to buy it or not.

I'm very excited that AC3 is taking place during the Revolutionary War. I know there are a lot of people complaining that it shouldn't take place during the Revolutionary War, but honestly they're just being immature twits. I won't go into more detail about that though.

I just hope to God this is the final game of the series. I would rather see the game come to a final conclusion on an outstanding 3rd... err... 5th installment than to see a game end on a sour note after 6 or 7 games.

I'm curious as to what George Washington's role will be in this game. I know very little about freemasonry or their history, but I'm pretty confident that freemasons have a Templar past. I highly doubt George Washington will be an actual Templar. I'm also certain that George Washington's role as a freemason will come up. What does this mean? In reality, Freemasons evolved from the Templar Order, and they do not co exist. However, in the game, Templars continue to exist, so what will Ubisoft do to distinguish Freemasons from Templars? They could always act as if Freemasons never existed, or they could make it so that the Templars merely rewrote Washington's role, though that would be an easy out and I don't really expect that to happen.

I believe they may use the Freemasons as an order that, according to the game, did not evolve from the Templar order, but broke away from the Templar order.

AC1 was a great game, but it was repetative. AC2 did everything right and completely changed the plot system so that you didn't want to ram your head against the wall doing the same quests over and over again. ACB and ACR expanded upon AC2 but they never really introduced anything new, which is okay because they were incredibly fun games. I have very little doubt that AC3 will disappoint.

Not really. The Japanese didn't get upset when Fallout 3 allowed you to nuke a city. The Russians didn't get upset when you could kill civies in MW2. The French didn't get upset when the Eiffel Tower fell down in MW3. Americans didn't get upset when the White House got blown up in Independence Day. The Italians didn't rage when Ezio killed off half the population in AC2/AC:B/AC:R.

Honestly, no one cares because its just a game. In fact, I thought it was kinda cool being able to fight in the ruins of America in MW2/Fallout 3.
