Listen... this comparison is like comparing an apple to a potatoe! =0
They are both items you can eat, but look nothing alike and aren't even in the same sort of food scale... if you want to compare two music genres, I suggest you try comparing either Rap -to- Hip Hop -to- R'n'B or Rock music -to-Heavy Metal -to- Blues! That suits a comparison way better...
LOL Thought so... if someone like him would die right now, the media would be allover it!! (o.O)
I think more talent goes into heavy metal musically.
If you mean that rappers only spit lyrics and can't play any instrument other than their vocals, then yes! We're still waiting to see a rapper pick up a guitar or play a piano live on stage! =P
Isn't Hip Hop a term for the general style and Rap the corresponding music genre? I always thought so..
Anyways I generally dislike Rap, but there are some artists I like (mostly those who still have rebellious lyrics and talent for their music, instead of singing about stupid irrelevant stuff with an awful gangsta-sound). And I generally like Metal, but by far not all groups, and Heavy Metal is not really my favourite subgenre. I'm more into Power Metal, Folk Metal and a bit in Death Metal.
Yet another "this genre is better than that" thread?
What a silly, useless thing to compare. You might as well make a "blue is better than red" thread, and people will just spew their own personal preference, because that's what it comes down to. It's not about the genre, it's how the artists use it.
And your personal tastes, based on your musical experiences and how "used" you are to one genre's vocabulary, will ultimately determine how much you enjoy it. I don't like dubstep because I don't listen to it much, it's not aimed at me and I don't get it, but that makes my opinion be "I don't know it well enough" rather than "it sucks".
It amazes me how easily someone who will openly admit they don't listen to, say, metal, can go out and give the sweeping verdict that it's "just noise". Like you'd know, you don't ****ing listen to it. Same thing with rock fans and rap music.
Please don't spam ImTheMostManlyMan, But yeah i like Rap cause Heavy metal is just not my type, but if it was Alt Rock VS Rap then i would chose Alt Rock :P
i hate rap so much i feel SO EMBARRASSED when im seen listing to it and heavy metal aint so bad some heavy metal songs are good and i dont care if im seen listing to it alot better then being seen with rap playing and plus the only rap i liked was when i was in 3-6th grade listening to eminem and that was it
And what is a good genre then? Country? Pop? Classical music? =/
Any genre has some angsty teens as a fan you know!

Don't hate him for it KhaoticSniper... there's a major glitch happening in the forums lately, so posts get submitted double and triple and sometimes they don't show at all.
i hate rap so much i feel SO EMBARRASSED when im seen listing to it
You can always use headphones Drink... nobody needs to know what music you're listening to! That is... if you're not using that air guitar all the time. I usually give away my musical preferences preeeeetttyyy quick that way! LOL
I must admit I really dislike all the people bashing rap. Not all rap is bad people. Lecrae for instance, is a really good rapper. Also, Trip Lee, FLAME, a bunch of others. Just look around. If you're talking about secular rappers, I agree, they're terrible.
Other than the fact that they mostly sing about one topic, aka a three letter word that starts with s. Also, they rap as if doing drugs is totally fine. And as if drinking is totally fine.
My family has been known for drinking themselves to death. My grandmas brother did it. Many people have done it. And drugs ruin your body. And rappers singing as if that crap is good just aren't cool. They may as well be telling people to kill themselves.
@Kaidou16, you're wrong. Many rapper, secular or believer, might rap about sex, drugs and all that, but it's not the case for everyone, by far. For instance I know one rapper that seems secular, and yet has deep lyrics, criticises what is wrong, and sensibilizes people about issues that others might propagate in their songs. You can't just let your personal experience rule the view you have about something that is too broad to be stuffed into a single drawer.
Gosh, to realize I stood up for rap.. ima gonna listen to some metal now.. yeah..
