I love the music and everytime I'm like "Gosh, I wish I was born back then" but then I realize that there must've been crap **** like now too, but that just doesn't survive the decades. But that's okay, I still love the era.
It definitely wasn't the time for Rock and Roll though
Yes it was!?!?! Rock and roll has been a MAJOR influence in the 80's! Talking about the genre itself or any related (sub-)genre... it was one of the pillars of music during that decade!! =D
crash test drumies-music-(mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm).
Liked the song the first few times I heard it, but it became irritating REAL quick after that! I even dislike it as I hear it being played nowadays... go figure! =0
eminem is my favorite in the 80s
Ahm... seeing as he's born October 17th, 1972, he would have been between the age of 8 and 18 in that period and he only started making records in the 90's with his debut album "Infinite" in 1996! So it's a little (much) out of the time zone here...
Ah the early 80s, the waning era of the Bee Gees...sigh.
But my favourite music from the 80s has to be the emergence of the metal scene, especially the glam metal. Motley Crue and Poison. And of course the Big Four Thrash Metal bands/gods. Not to mention NWOBHM music (Venom!).
Also Guns N'Roses. I don't need to elucidate more.
Thrash, Power, Death, Black, Doom and Gothic metal, they all have their roots in the 1980s.
Agreed, the 'raw' metal sound of Metallica is what defined them back in the 80's! Can't say it was the same when they went commercial after that, but even if the sound was different (and more commercial) it was just as awesome! =)
Honestly I don't like 80's music to much. I prefer the 60's and 70's when the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were making music.. I don't like any bands from the 80's that much.

Technically... all three bands were making music in the early 80's as well calebsi! They had their biggest hits in the 60's and 70's, agreed on that, but they weren't done making music after that...
Frankie goes to Hollywood,Falco
Oooh... to more gems from the 80's era, allthough I have to say that both of them were burned up quickly! Both of them had only a few hits and were never to be heard of again! Well, Holly Johnson tried again in the early 90's with "Americanos", but Falco was done for after his 80's hits... =0

The Beatles were done before the 70's even started. Zeppelin were done before 1980 too, and their only "album" since then was a collection of studio outtakes.
Just listened to "Rock Me Amadeus" for the first time yesterday. Not at all what I expected.
I'm a tumor I'm a tumor, I'm a tumor...
as long as its not g@y rap cr@p!
1) Very little rap is homosexual. 2) Rap existed in the 80's. 3) Not all rap is as bad as you say it is. You're judging rap by the 21st century pop-rap fusion stuff that's been playing on the radio for the past decade. Listen to some 20th century rap before you bash the entire genre.
I love music from the 1980's. A lot of the kids in school pick on me and tease me for liking it. And I HATE it when a current pop-star has a song that samples older songs that they hope people have forgot about. Some examples are: "Back in Time" by Pitbull (it used a sample from a song from the 50's, I believe "Strange Love" was its name). A Nikki Minaj "song" (I forget what the "song" was called) where the entire time they took the 'whoa-ah-oh-oh' part from "Video Killed the Radio Star"
