Honestly it depends which came first. If it was a book first then 99% of the time the book will be better. If it was a movie that was made into a book then the movie was probably better.
Whenever you have an oppurtunity a book you've read turn into a movie, the scenes depicted often do not match with the imagery created when reading the book. This allows you to have a connection to the book, and make you feel as if you were there when you're reading it. The movie has everything laid out, and often does not include the major details because of directors/writers wanting the viewers not to be "forced" to watch a stretched scene. Which may be one of the reasons said book is popular, and has sold enough to qualify to become a movie in the first place.
Jaws was probably the only one where I liked the movie a bit better. The character development was great. In the book they returned to shore every night. The isolation factor in the movie made it more intense. I don't want to spoil anything, but in my opinion the movie's ending was better.
Well the books are always more interesting to me like Harry Potter the movies aren't as good as the books wich is disappointing and even the 2 movies for the 7nth wasn't as good but better I guess...
Well, in theory, movies have less description than books. In the book, everything there is imagined perfectly. In the movies, some things will go wrong. Theory, anyway. I don't watch movies when I've already read the books.
The only movie based from a book I would consider as good as said book would be Lord of the Rings. Simply because Peter Jackson pretty much stayed as close as he could to the book, the acting was stellar, and Tolkein's writing, if you've ever read it, is somewhat difficult to understand.
I read Planet of the Apes by Pierre Boule and I saw the 1960's movie. I liked the movie better. I saw the movies 2001 and 2010 and I liked them but I only read 2060 and 3001. If someone read them can you tell me which were best? I'll have to read them some day.
In my opinion, books are better because their more in-depth and are just usually more captivating, and thats why I sometimes read books. But movies are more relaxing and give you a better picture of the basic ideas (not the details though).
I like to read the book first because it is pretty original because in the Percy Jackson series Annabeth's hair was blonde but in the movie it was brownish.
