It is just like I was saying, complete ANARCHY! We can't have stuff like that!
No, the reason we can't have that is because we have never had html coding to use. All the good behaviour and customs has been removed when something as - innovative and new has been introduced, the same way all civilised manners are removed from a group of kids on a playground if given supersoakers, or the way everyone became impolite when the smartphone became the newest trend.
People simply ignore all common sense and start using ALL the html because they can, and not because they need it.
And perhaps because of this, most regulars tended to go against the suggestions of anything but underline and spoiler/coding codes for the purposes of the forums (and for a very clear reason said that images should not be displayed in abouts and that signatures were rubbish). It gets horrendous to look at, and the very charm of these forums, besides the compelling userbase, is the simplicity of the design.
In risk of sounding like an old man, we didn't need any of this back in 2008, and we don't need it now. What we had was fine.
But, I guess, if they really plan on revolutionising the forums and the site (which they better do, considering the changes), it is better to import it now to get people used to it, rather than launching a site with a bunch of new stuff that will confuse the users.
If they then bothered to write a thread like this themselves, so we had any idea of what the rules are and what had changed, well... Of course, Frank might be the spokesdwarf here, but it would still be nice with more of that ever absent communication rather than stuff just appearing at random.
Especially since I don't think the rules have been changed about any of this.
After all, the coloured-text-image thing was added because it might give the wrong impressions, no matter the colour, the inability to not post images to the about was there for a reason as well, in particular to make sure people were not posting obscene images that could not be deleted without the help of an admin.
Either way, I would still rather that they fixed the problems they have, instead of creating new ones by being innovative, but I guess all this could just be seen as me being grumpy that I never got that recommendation I asked for.
But well, off topic and all.
