We all know that the Wii failed to keep up with the other consoles because of it's capabilities and graphics. Wii U will be keeping up with the PS3 and Xbox 360 but that means it's far behind. Will it be able to keep up with Microsoft and Sony's newer game consoles? ( I don't know anything about new consoles from Microsoft and Sony. )

Will the Wii U be worth it or at least stay alive for longer period of time?

appearantly only some of us know that the wii actually sold much more then the other consoles. im sure most of us can agree that the wii isnt as good as the others, still it was the most succesful one

Yes when they barely came out people where crazy over them but the PS3 and Xbox360 had a better gaming experience there-forth gained more supporters and actually provided good games unlike the Wii that's aimed at little kids.

I know, right? That poor Wii stands no chance with it's almost 30 million lead compared to the other consoles!

That is a mighty fine opinion you have there. But it's only that, an opinion. Not to mention it implies that games aimed at kids are automatically "bad" (based on what standards?) and that there was a shift in customer support of the other consoles, both of which are wrong.

As for the WiiU, I don't care for it because none of the announced games so far sound very appealing. Could this potentially change? Yes, of course, but until then I'm not going to feed the hype machine. :V

I am doubting whether to buy the wii U or not when it comes out. The main thing i dont like about it is the IPAD size controller. That will get quite annoying.

and i do share that opinion (only the first part). the problem isnt that its directed toward children. the problem is that almost none of the games are good. games that are directed towards children actually have a better chance of being good since they can actually focus about the important things and not about: graphics, blood, sex and all the other stuff people like for 2 days and then throw that game away when another newer one with the same thing appears.

but, the statistics dont lie. if this was about the "best" console we could say our opinions. if its about the most succesful one:

[quote]We all know that the Wii failed to keep up with the other consoles because of it's capabilities and graphics. [quote]

the wii wins and theres nothing you can really do about it. its a fact and you can just acknowledge it. also... who said its because of capabilities and graphics? its just because there arent many good games.

^That

The Wii wasn't up to specs when compared to the 360 or PS3, but the motion gimmick is what pulled people in. After half a decade, the market's wizened up, and the Wii's starting to fall in sales of games and consoles (Mind you it still has the highest total console sales, but month-by-month the 360 seems to always come out on top nowadays). It's also worth mentioning that the last Great Wii Game released, nevertheless announced, was last November's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It's a superb game, but it speaks miles about where the Wii's game quality has been at.

The Wii has had some really good hits, No More Heroes, Brawl, Red Steel 2, TLOZ, and Kirby's Epic Yarn come to mind, but after a year where the 360 and PS3 were graced with games like Arkham City, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Bastion, and Rayman Origins, it's time to see where Nintendo's going to go with their new console.

The Wii's problems weren't with its technology (too much), the real troubles lay with the wonky controller. The non-gamepad form of the Wiimote made putting all but one of this generation's GOTY's (Oblivion, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Uncharted 2, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim/Skyward Sword) on the tiny white console. It's a shame, but the motion gimmick is what sold the buyers, not the developers.

The Wii may have been geared towards "little kids", but let's not forget the game that really brought the Xbox 360 into its own when it first released - Viva Pinata.

Don't give me that Gears of War nonsense, it may have been a decent enough game, but Viva Pinata was truly the standout title that was bright, colorful, innovative, and was a blast to play. It demonstrated truly what the new generation of consoles could do, something that Gears of War could only hope to build upon using Halo's tower of quality rather than actually manifest in its own name. All this great and powerful innovation, from a game "geared towards little kids".

And on the other end of the spectrum, we have No More Heroes. Those who say the Wii only sold kiddie games, take a good look at that one. Or MadWorld. Or Red Steel 2. Or the dark-*** tone of Twilight Princess. The Wii wasn't afraid to get down and gritty every few years.

Now onto the new console, the Wii U. I've heard it's quite powerful, and that tablet controller seems to be an interesting step forward, but it all lies in the games.

What's that? Darksiders 2, Arkham City, and Battlefield 3 are confirmed titles for the Wii U?

Well, we'll have to see where Nintendo goes with its 1st-party games.

i just hope the Wii U have more mature games.

I just hope the gaming community will wise-up and acknowledge that the "M" on the box doesn't stand for "Must buy game".

They sell classic controller pros at gamestop and walmart. I like the classic controller pro more than xbox/ps3 controllers.

'Tis true, but mind you that that's an extraneous purchase, with an overwhelming majority of Wii games being developed with the Wiimote-Nunchuck system in mind, a control scheme that is a far cry indeed from the traditional gamepad archetype seen in the 360 and PS3's controllers.

Just something I would like to mention (not fully relevant to the thread). Game Informers recently did a page in their magazine in which they averaged every review they did of all genres of games from the last generation of systems. When they removed Wii games from that average, every single average went up.

I really like seeing people that still support the Wii even though most people I know hate it. The only reason to hate the Wii is because of other's opinion because the wii is usually thought it was a Baby's toy or something. I personally enjoy Wii and it's graphics and the controls are far more entertaining that all the other games. WiiU should target older gamers because they also target younger ones. Kids like to play what older gamers play because they think it's cool.

I really hope that the Wii U will not be treated like badly like the Wii. I still enjoy Wii and would play it anytime. One thing that I'm hoping for the Wii U is the games. They should import Elder Scroll games and other Major franchises.

Not even that, but it would show that the Wii U is capable of expanding its title library to multiple demographics in such a way of the 360 and PS3 (we're not seeing the new consoles for those in at least 2 more years). The Xbox has Gears of War, but it also has Viva Pinata. The PlayStation has Resistance, but it also has LittleBigPlanet.

It's all about versatility, but the Wii U can't forget where it came from. High-quality 1st party titles are what have always driven Nintendo, and I pray that they don't let this new slew of 3rd-party ports cloud their visage of the soul of a Nintendo console.

I'm not the biggest Nintendo guy, but I can understand the monolith that it represents, and any console introduction is always a critical point for any video game company. We shall see what happens with the Wii U technological-wise, title-wise, and most importantly, support/update-wise.

I love how everyone puts down the Wii now days but when it first came out everyone loved it. What made the Wii great was that it was unique. You got to use your body to play the game. There was nothing else like this. Now there is the Kinect and whatever the PlayStation came up with so it is not as unique. Plus Nintendo has always been more family friendly games. I still think that that Wii is great. Not the best graphics but they are not bad, they have good multiplayer games like Super Smash Bros. Also they have some good shooters believe it or not. The Conduit is a great game.

Now for the Wii U. I will be honest and I have not looked into it that much. It looks OK but I don't really know if I want it or not. I don't get the whole having a tablet thing. I just don't see the point. When is it coming out anyway?

As far as i know the PS4 is coming out in a few years. Plus Xbox 720 in a couple years. I think Nintendo is trying to focus more on teen and adult gaming, but will fail miserbly. My tip to Nintendo, stay with younger children gaming, let the pros do the rest.

P.S. After getting my 3DS, i realized it has Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, and alot more 17+ games. They were accualy pretty fun, but I still take the Ps3 any day of the week.

i think its really sad that people think that 18+ rated game are obviously better if you are 18+ then children games. i can tell you i havnt enjoyed any of those games and enjoyed many normal games that actually focus about other stuff then shooting, blood and sex
