appearantly only some of us know that the wii actually sold much more then the other consoles. im sure most of us can agree that the wii isnt as good as the others, still it was the most succesful one

The Wii wasn't up to specs when compared to the 360 or PS3, but the motion gimmick is what pulled people in. After half a decade, the market's wizened up, and the Wii's starting to fall in sales of games and consoles (Mind you it still has the highest total console sales, but month-by-month the 360 seems to always come out on top nowadays). It's also worth mentioning that the last Great Wii Game released, nevertheless announced, was last November's The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It's a superb game, but it speaks miles about where the Wii's game quality has been at.
The Wii has had some really good hits, No More Heroes, Brawl, Red Steel 2, TLOZ, and Kirby's Epic Yarn come to mind, but after a year where the 360 and PS3 were graced with games like Arkham City, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Bastion, and Rayman Origins, it's time to see where Nintendo's going to go with their new console.
The Wii's problems weren't with its technology (too much), the real troubles lay with the wonky controller. The non-gamepad form of the Wiimote made putting all but one of this generation's GOTY's (Oblivion, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Uncharted 2, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim/Skyward Sword) on the tiny white console. It's a shame, but the motion gimmick is what sold the buyers, not the developers.
The Wii may have been geared towards "little kids", but let's not forget the game that really brought the Xbox 360 into its own when it first released - Viva Pinata.
Don't give me that Gears of War nonsense, it may have been a decent enough game, but Viva Pinata was truly the standout title that was bright, colorful, innovative, and was a blast to play. It demonstrated truly what the new generation of consoles could do, something that Gears of War could only hope to build upon using Halo's tower of quality rather than actually manifest in its own name. All this great and powerful innovation, from a game "geared towards little kids".
And on the other end of the spectrum, we have No More Heroes. Those who say the Wii only sold kiddie games, take a good look at that one. Or MadWorld. Or Red Steel 2. Or the dark-*** tone of Twilight Princess. The Wii wasn't afraid to get down and gritty every few years.
Now onto the new console, the Wii U. I've heard it's quite powerful, and that tablet controller seems to be an interesting step forward, but it all lies in the games.
What's that? Darksiders 2, Arkham City, and Battlefield 3 are confirmed titles for the Wii U?
Well, we'll have to see where Nintendo goes with its 1st-party games.
i just hope the Wii U have more mature games.
I just hope the gaming community will wise-up and acknowledge that the "
M" on the box doesn't stand for "
Must buy game".
