I still prefer CDs over downloads (and vinyl over CDs).
This. Nothing beats the sound of vinyl.
I still buy CD's whenever I get the chance! I have a huge collection and still try to expand it whenever I can, but that's proving to be increasingly difficult nowadays... shops tend to disgard CD's and fill the gaps with computer games or other stuff. =/
Yeah, it's almost impossible to find good CDs in regular stores. I just go to music stores when I want to buy CDs or vinyls. Too bad there aren't many around.
Also I simply like to possess the CD and not the data, it's so more appealing to my materialistic collectionist spirit doesn't it look nice when you have a shelf rack full of CDs?
Of course in that sense vinyls are certainly even more appealing, I simply never got into it due to it not being popular anymore when I was small... nice to see they're coming back though!
I agree and I'm very glad that my brother got me into collecting CDs and later vinyls. I don't have a huge collection yet but maybe one day I'll have a collection like my brother's. He has well over a thousand vinyls and hundreds of CDs.
Also I hate mp3s! If you really enjoy music or you are an audiophile like me, you shouldn't like it either because the conversion destroy some of the details. On the other hand, the Flac format is lossless so I like it.

It's not just ripping off artists, but mostly the record companies and they are the ones that loose a lot of money. Artists only receive a minimum fee for every time the song is played or sold and they loose all of that. So in a way, you're correct... It's the monopoly the record companies have what is the problem at hand here! If they were to significantly cut back on their profits and add a little to the fees artists are getting, then more people would buy CD's as their selling prices will drop accordingly.
Yeah, artists get more money from concerts. Going to see someone live is the best way to show your support (and it's a lot of fun). Another good way to support upcoming artists these days is donating money through sites like Kickstarter. A lot of artists have put up campaigns to get started on a project. And you can get more than just CDs depending on how much you want to donate.
That's true, respect is the key word here! But it's not all black and white for me personally... I too download songs outside the paid services, but for a reason! I download them to listen to them and when I like them, I buy their CD! Songs I don't like will be deleted of course. So in a way, I am supporting the illegal downloads by using them, but I'm also buying CD's to support the artists and my wall of CD's is the best proof for that! =)
I download music too, for the same reason as you, but some times also because:
a)The artists is from another country and so underground that their CDs aren't sold anywhere where I could buy them.
b)The music is so old that it's impossible to find anywhere but on the internet and/or it would be insanely expensive due to being rare.
c)There's something I really want to listen to but I don't have any money. I might still buy it later. I always try to buy CDs and vinyls whenever I have money.

That's what amazon.com is for. Use it.

mp3 isn't bad if it's 320, which is the only type anyone should ever listen to. Below 256 is a crime against your ears imo. And if you're listening to it on a portable player or speaker/headphone that really isn't that high-end, you won't be able to tell the difference between 320 mp3 and lossless at al, because it isn't all that huge.

That is far from a fact and much more personal preference. There is no technical evidence pointing to the superiority of vinyl. Whatever frequencies vinyl preserves that CDs can't simply aren't audible. Sometimes there's different masters for the CD and vinyl versions of an album, but lately that just hasn't been happening.
Besides, vinyls have clicks and static. I'll take CDs any day.

Make sure it's encoded in true stereo and not joint stereo. If you don't believe me just install an encoder and try 320 stereo and 320 joint stereo and listen to them back to back. What joint stereo does is to take all the details from the left and right side and mixed them supposedly to help hear them better which is BS to my hears. This process kills the spatial effect, it's like the sound has no dimension, in other word, it sounds like mono.

That's why there are expensive headphones and cheapo headphones.

Yeah, but I still felt like it was worth mentioning. Baffles me how the world's full of people who'll put hours into their music collections and finding the best quality and buying an expensive mp3 player and all that, just to listen through those awful white things that come with iPods.
And say "oh there's no difference, you're just a nitpicking audiophile".

I only use flac and record everything on CD for the best quality. I don't use and Ipod or Ipad, or any pads, just a cheapo e-reader for my e-books.

I have good ears and yes I'm picky, nobody's perfect.
The last time I bought a CD was in 2006. Between playlist.com, downloading music illegally and burning CDs with songs from other CDs, I haven't really felt the need to buy one since then.
