Yes, that part is easy, but coming up with the content isn't always that simple! The best threads are the ones that people can reply to more than once, and it's sometimes hard to come up with material for threads like that!

Explanation of why this happens and how it happens every year has already been provided in previous posts.

What is this, are you expecting people to actually read other posts?! That can't be good for their mental and physical health in any way!

Snore.

It's funny how these threads always look exactly the same every year.

It's even more amusing to go back to the very start and see how the exact same subjects are around, with just less replies and more spammy and off topic comments.

Oh, right. Surgeon General recommends that any and all personnel on the forums refrain from extraneous activities such as informing oneself via information which is already present.

I know why it happens. I've seen it before. What I was wondering is why it's particularly lower this year than it has been in previous years.

Let's see.
New gen of forumers might be younger and thus not have time to be online. Or might be older, and not have time to get on.
Many are taking a break because they are waiting for AGv3 to launch, while others are taking a break because way too much have gone wrong while the staff is trying to get AGv3 to launch, and they can't be bothered coping with it.
Or alternately, you just have more time on your hands so you notice it more.

Knowledge and information is WRONG! We can't have it affect the young, impressionable minds!

I'd think that one would be the most likely reason. I've never seen so many site problems in all of the time I've spent here, so I can understand why people wouldn't want to put up with it.

i know right, what with the spam-bots then having to hard refresh the page before your forum post will show, which i don't think most people know to do, and where i live anyway school just got out and 3 of my friends on vacation so yeah it shouldn't be too shocking

That's understandable, seeing as there's no sticky or official page anywhere that mentions it.

I've created two new threads in the past 24 hours. It really isn't as hard as you say it is.

Something must be done about this! Hard-refresh needs to be more widely known around these forums!

A sticky should be created on how to deal with the forums when they're like this.

Well then, I guess you're just better at it than most people! Definitely better than I am! =P

1) Normal refresh also works (on some computers).
2) Uninformed users might create threads about the problem, which increases activity and gives the informed a chance to gain AP.

A sticky should be created on how to deal with the forums when they're like this.

3) Not everyone reads the stickies, so there will still be threads complaining about the required refresh. Therefore, the informed users could simply link to the sticky as opposed to saying "F5" or "Ctrl+F5".

Conclusion: I will refer to this glitch as the "must refresh" glitch. It causes some people to leave the site, some to create threads about it, and the informed users to gain AP by answering the threads. By scaring some away, it decreases activity, but it also increases activity by causing some users to create threads they would not otherwise create. Creating a sticky would not be harmful to activity since not everyone reads the stickies. The sticky would simply change the responses of the informed.
