I went on this trip called the Youth Migrant Project for a week and the trip totally changed my life! You got to go to a migrant camp and see what it was like and the houses are as small as a small bedroom. I saw one house that size and six people were living in it. We got to help the migrants by giving them food in a food drive we did. When I was passing out food to them I saw a baby with a growth on its head. I met a girl named Lefelia while I was there and she is fourteen years old just like me, but her life is entirely different. She has lived in California, Washington, all over the place! Right now Lefelia, even though she is only fourteen, is working in the fields for her family. She probably will not go to high school or college. She will probably never get a real home, her own bedroom, or for that matter even her own bed. Man, the conditions they have to live in, for all they do for us, with so little pay, that's just wrong. Some people think they are here to steal our jobs, but they aren't. They are here to provide for their families and they are here because this is supposed to be a free country where any man can get the money he deserves. If we send the migrants away, who do you think will be generous enough to switch their nice office job to go live in a house the size of a small bedroom and pick berries for eighteen cents a gallon? Not me. Not you.
Fair trade is a solution that can help the migrants and their families. Fair trade products are sold and the maker of the product gets good money. Call or write a letter to a store near you and ask if they can get more fair trade products to sell. Go on trips like the youth migrant project. Tell people what you think about the migration issue. Speak out; it will make a difference.

So does how these people became illegal even matter? You know not every illegal citizen dug a tunnel or jumped a fence.

That is true WeeMan, but sadly to say, most did. Maybe not for purposes such as crime (like most people think)

Well, them being illegal matters because alot of people are protective of their jobs, and they don't want non-citizens taking their jobs. There are many more reasons, but alot of people know them already.

What jobs are they really taking? What's his name just said he saw them working in fields and living in huts. Do you work in a field? How many citizens are worried about losing their job as a blueberry picker? If you have a job that can be taken by a non-citizen, odds are you are young and part time. No big loss, come on folks. Get your head out of your a...anus... and get some sense.

Bravo!

So, maybe instead of trying to keep them out we should find ways in making efficient legalization and help the Mexican economy grow. They could be a great ally.

THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING!!!! YAYAYAYAY

@WeeMan, I was talking about Illegals that start to become successful. Citizens might start to feel that their jobs are becoming threatened by people that aren't even citizens. Also, if you read earlier, you would see that I don't have much against illegal immigrants.

Bravo to you Asherlee.

Now let's see if this makes sense:

If we help Mexico grow and help support their economy, the fine people of Mexico can stay in the birth place and culture they were raised in and can still have the hope and opportunity that they would find in this country. So instead of putting them down, we need to raise them up. All agreed?

I wasn't referring to you, Estel, you are cool in my book. I understand your point 100% and I can sort of understand how they might feel that way. We are good, no worries.

I guess I didn't put my point across as well as I thought I did. I was thinking that we should allow citizenship to illegals, possibly make it mandatory, so the bickering will go down.

We could also help Mexicans right at their home contry. Mexico really could use some help, and it's an awesome idea, but is that plausible with our weak economy, and a president that will probably fail to notice this? I agree with you WeeMan, but to be honest, the US isn't that nice

WeeMan, I agree completely. It would be nice for them to have the option to stay in their own country and have the opportunity to be successful. I think that because America has such great power that we should properly help others. Not the way we did Iraq... we handed billions of dollars to a country that hates us.

I am all for giving them all citizenship, that means they get to pay full taxes in this country. What I think a lot of people don't understand is that illegal immigrants pay taxes, they do. They pay sales tax, personal property tax, taxes on their cars, and several other taxes. They pay bills, for cell phones, electricity, water, gas, and all the other good ones. They pay a lot, often more than they make in the fields. Some people act as if they are a burden on the white man, when they should be our best friends. We can learn a lot from them as a people and as a culture, it isn't a bad thing.

I wish that recent society could be that way. Maybe we should make our own country where we can put our views on illegal immigrants etc. and make them law!

Hmmm I can see it now.....Asherestelweeland. I love it already XP
