Asking how to be a mod won't lessen your chances of becoming one. Asking to be one will lessen the chances. So don't ask. It's okay, because your still new.

It's alright to ask how you get merits, as long as you don't start messaging mods saying they should check out certain reviews.

Well in the reviews there are signs.
A flag and a vote up arrow.
If you click the arrow (In my opinion) you are calling the mods attention for that review saying that it is a good review.
Correct me if I am wrong.

All an up arrow does is it makes the text bigger (after a certain amount of up-votes), so everyone and mods can see the comment. However it does not attract mods to that game. It just attracts them to the comment, when they are viewing all the comments on a game.

I think earning a merit is one of the hardest things on AG as well as becoming a mod, it is one of my main goals to earn one merit.

I know this might sound silly but in the Contacts we put our real name, or username? or doesn't matter?

I don't think it really matters, they usually reply on your e-mail and not your username anyway. I always use "mr tim" (yes with space), but they did not mind.
