I used to be a huge fan of the CoD series when they were coming out with games like modern warfare one and two. Then after Black Ops the whole series, in my opinion, went completely went downhill.

is it getting worse? no way! you can't say that the entire franchise is getting worse because of one bad game, blops was the best, MW2 was the second best and BO2 shall be the new best

I'm not judging it on one bad game. I'm judging it on how, in my opinion, ever since Modern Warfare 1 the games have gotten progressively worse until modern warfare 3, the first actually bad game in the series. Blops MW2 and WaW weren't too bad but they got worse as the series progressed, is all I'm trying to say
Well i think IW is killing the series but treyarch is keeping it alive. I do think there are more hackers now then ever on cod a rank hack went up the first day mw3 was released. cod has never been the same when IW main delpovers left with a large portion of the staff.
Yeah I have to agree, hackers are also ruining the series for everyone. But also the campaigns for the games are getting worse to. We haven really touched on that subject yet. CoD 4 campaign was the best, then they just got worse til MW3, which sucks
I wish I had a game series that would remain relatively the same, but add just a few new perks, ideas, and maps to keep my interest. There we have it! CoD series.
Games don't have to be radically different to be good. Look at the Pokemon games, they're relatively the same every game with only a few minor changes. Of course, I don't play them because the Pokemon are stupid as hell looking, but other than that, people still enjoy the games! People enjoy the formula and gameplay elements that made the originals so fun.
Now, I can understand if you dislike the CoD series because it's always the same, and that is important to a lot of gamers. However, a lot of gamers WANT the same game. They WANT something they are familiar with, something with only enough differences to keep each game feeling relatively new. Each game improves kill streaks, guns, perks, and other minor details, and this is all the change many players want.
I'm not saying you have to like the game series, just understand that there is a demand for this game. There is a market for it.
Is the CoD series getting worse? I don't think so. I think each game is, for the most part, better than the one before. Obviously, if you're getting tired of the series, they're going to feel like they're getting worse.
Of course, it's all a matter of opinion, and the above is my opinion. I feel I should mention this because I do tend to criticize TV series that never seem to end. Oh well.
Also, I'm keeping this thread open so we can have a place where people can vent about the CoD series without bugging people who enjoy the game and enjoy posting in the main CoD thread.
I've disliked the CoD series following CoD 3. However, I've got to say, Activision hit a jackpot with this franchise. Can't blame them for making a profit.
first of all thank you NoName and i would like to say that the most important part of the CoD series is the maps, which would you rather pay $60 for; a game with everything you wanted to change whatever but just an open field completely flat nothing to hide behind no structure whatsoever; or would you rather have wonderful maps but only have pistols and no perks or killstreaks; which would you rather play?
@lightcrux I know, CoD 3 was a pretty bad game, but since it was followed up by a game as good as CoD 4, people tend to forget about it
@ManlyMan I'd rather have the wonderful maps and pistols because I am mainly a sniper in CoD and without any cover, that would be awful, at least if i give up the sniper i can get some good cover with a pistol
thank you angelofdemon, what i've been trying to tell people who keep complaining because pretty much the only thing that changes is the maps, they don't seem to understand how important they are, for some reason my brother thinks that graphics are just as important as maps, and they are, to a degree but it gets to a point where it's for show
