We're all familiar with how many bizarre food flavors exist in today's world. I figured the same basic thread could be made for architecture.
The advantage to strange/interesting architecture over food is that it isn't subject to last only as long as the food does; buildings can last for many years, so theoretically you could visit just about any one of the buildings that will be posted in this thread without worrying about them being gone forever.
What strange/interesting buildings have you come across?
Ah, finally a Post on Architecture. I find this building interesting, but it seems kind of random. A little odd actually if you look at it from a angle..
@ Burj Al Arab Hotel 7 stars?!? How'd they do that?? The experience must be groundbreaking in order to achieve a status like that! What does the hotel have to offer other than a tennis court where a helipad should be?
@ Jumeirah Beach Hotel Beautiful wave shape! I'm sure that one and the Atlantis are also both 7-star hotels! It would almost have to be with craftsmanship like that...
Those hotels are beautiful! I want to go to Dubai! =D
@ Mino Interesting building... do I spy a giraffe in the doorway?
Can anyone tell me where this building is? I searched for "modern architecture" and I came across it, but I've failed to find any background information on it seeing as all I have to go off of is the image itself.
Yes, the slide-looking thing does look like a collection of solar panels. I'm more interested in what the two dome-like structures are used for and where they are located, and if they are connected via subaqueous tunnels.
This is old stuff but I always liked those pavilions from Expo 67. I used to do some amateur archeology on the site when I was younger. Now there's nothing left but the France, Quebec and a couple more pavilions (I forgot the name) but I still like the USA one even though it burned a long time ago. They preserved the structure and it is still functional I think.
