i personal dont believe it but many groups have predicted it ex: mayans, hopi indians, the bible St Malachy predicted the world will end with the 112th pope; pope bendict is our 111th pope. Why would all these people predict the same date?
the sun wont implode for 250 thousand years, but the earths civilization will be gone in the next 200 years thats for sure.
Any sources or just personal research.
We have about 6 billion years till the earth will start to become a red giant (judging by its cycles so for and that of other stars). However flukily the hypothesised destuction of the earth is inder debate. Some people believe it won't expand as far as earth and even if it did it would have such a low density it woudn't be hot enough to do any harm. I doubt thsi and fear we will all die (yay for optimism).
As for civilisation ending in 200 years. How? Why? Where did you get that from. We have done pretty wel for 4,000 years.
I could end tomorrow, or in 4 billion years, there's no way to know for sure. And when it does end it will be the sun imploding and destroying the whole solar system
The world is just as likely to end today, as it is Dec. 21, 2012. People have probably been predicting the world since we first gained a brain capable of that type of thought.
personally i dont think the world will end in our life time. itll probably end a long time after were dead and by then will all be dead already so theres no point in worrying about when the world will end. when it does end itll be the problem of whatever civilization lives on the earth.
I think that it will end. I mean, the SAME prediction came from several anicient civilizations that were scattered around the world. They had no communication with each other. If it wasn't true, then how did that happen? also if you think about it, those civilizations were actually very knowledgable for their time. Also, Its possible that it may end from a nuclear war? I mean the threat may have been here for a long time, but at the moment, I feel, that there is alot of tension between countries. but thats just me.
those civilizations were actually very knowledgable for their time.
Can you give some examples of their inteligence please.
Assuming the civilisation is Mayan I am having trouble finding exact dates for start and end. however it seems it survived in one way or another until Spanish colonisation.
At that time they had stone (I think obsidian though I may be wrong) tools and weapons. The Spanish had guns and cannons. Mayan armour was made up of cloth the spanish had plate armour.
In mathematical terms the Mayan calendar was hopelessly inaccurate (loosing a day every 4 years) while the Gregorian calendar goes a day out every 3257 days.
