i personal dont believe it but many groups have predicted it ex: mayans, hopi indians, the bible St Malachy predicted the world will end with the 112th pope; pope bendict is our 111th pope. Why would all these people predict the same date?

apparently we are all supposed to believe that the world is going to end on dec. 21, 2012 because the Mayans, Nostradamus, and Lil' Wayne (lol...how does a crackhead idiot like this guy have any credibility?)
think it will. The chances of it happening are absurdly low, and while the Mayans were very advanced for their time, it's crazy to think that they have any chronological accuracy.

Well, There is going to be an asteroid that will come dangerously close to earth in 2012, though it will make closer and closer passes every 12 years until in 2036 it will probably collide with Earth. =)

Don't worry, this asteroid is only [b]

I don't think the world will end, I mean, every year the calendar ends, so wouldn't every New Year's Eve be the end of the earth? That's what I think about this topic anyways.

That happy face at the end of your sentence must mean your life really sucks, haha.

Oh, I forgot to type the rest of my post...

I think this whole topic is a theory, that cannot be proven true.

It's just estimations by other civilizations, and just because their calendar ends, doesn't mean that the world will end.

Nobody on earth can determine when the earth will end, in the Bible, God says that he will come as a thief in the night (simile for coming when least expected), and that the Heaven and earth will have and end, but His Word, will not have an end.

the earth will never end

the earth will end when the sun envelops it as it grows older

but i wouldn't think man would live that long

Obama's turn ends 2012! AAAHH!!!!!!!!

I am curious, however, to see what happens if when the sun hits the center of the galaxy

Many people interpret religious and scientific artifacts differently, who knows if these translations really meant that the world would end then... they could just be a metaphor. No need to take them seriously, we have to power to determine our own future.

Ok, if none of you noticed the world was supposed to end 9 years ago. Dec. 31, 2000, but it didn't? Why? Because someone made it up to get his/her 15 minutes of fame. Obviously, these scientist or something ologists made this crap up. How did a non advanced society who killed kids women and men every 15 minutes know that the world would end like 2-5 thousand years after there time? If someone would please tell me, and give me a good answer, then I probably would be convinced.

end like 2-5 thousand years after there time

The Mayans are only about 500 years old, europe had gunpowder etc. by the time we started to conquer them. For "after their time" they probably didn't think that they would end before then (there predictions can't be that accurate).

They sacrificed people because that was their belief. (if anyone remembers Lost series 2 where they had to type in numbers every day or the world would end). The Mayans believed they had to sacrifice to make the sun rise. To be honest the Incas were much worse for this.

If I remember my history correctly Mayan history has several ages. (these aren't exact just guide lines. The first age lasted a few thousand years then ended in say a flood, in which everything but a couple of animals died. In the second age new animasl grew (a bit of evolution for you there) but again a catastrophe ended possibly fire IIRC. ETc. Etc. until the age we are in now. The world will not end just an age in a defunct and extinct (except a few) culture.

the end of the world has be 'foretold' at several differnet points in history, even in my lifetime i must have heard that the end of the world was nigh a couple of times, and every time, the person telling me is 'absolutely certain, its in the bible/torah/etc...' i was told we wouldnt get past 2000, and 2004 , and now 2012, have to say im a little cynical :P
