i personal dont believe it but many groups have predicted it ex: mayans, hopi indians, the bible St Malachy predicted the world will end with the 112th pope; pope bendict is our 111th pope. Why would all these people predict the same date?
Just for the record...i was just laughing at another guys opinion lol...maybe there will be no zombies and we wont have anything to worry about!! buy really what are the chances? Really good!!!
Eh i'm skeptical about the whole 2012 idea. Was skeptical about Y2K happening and still mock my friend about his parent's pantry that resembles a Y2K cellar.
Again if it's by zombies, I will enjoy the end of humanity as much as I can. I've always loved zombie movies/games, really anything about them. But I doubt it'll happen.
I guess we just need to wait and see what will come of the Mayan calander. Maybe some people just need to go in and add new software like they did for Y2K (hardy har har).
I agree with Somecallmetim. I doubt that just because the Mayan calendar ends, the world will end too. I sometimes see ads claiming that it will. When our calendars end, the world doesn't end. We just throw away the calendars and get new ones. It's the same with the mayan calendar. We'll stop using that one and start another one.
I believe the main reasons why it's such a huge deal is the following two reasons:
1) The Mayan calander ends in 2012. Some how this correlates to the end of the world. I'm not fully sure why or how people came to this assumption. 2) Nostradamus also predicted the end of the world would be in 2012.
I think because these two predictions are the same year, and the fact that some things that Nostradamus has predicted has came true, people are actually taking this idea to be true.
Again i'm skeptical, as was I with the turning of the new millennium.
Some people think that there could be a comet or an asteroid coming that will destroy the earth. But scientists could calculate the trajectories of any comets and asteroids that could hit us by 2012, and I'm pretty sure that if they found one, they would release the knowledge to the public. But it would be quite a coincidence if the mayan calendar ended the same time a comet hit. The mayans did have the technology to make the calendar, but not to calculate the trajectories of spacial entities.
Maybe there is a government cover up conceiling the truth that there really is a comment coming around 2012. And to avoid distrubing the public, they are keeping it hushed up just so society can continue as normal till dooms day?
It reminds me of that book...I don't remember what it's called. It's the one where the government knows there's an asteroid coming, so they prepare certain people to go to another planet in special cryo-chamber-equipped space ships, but the media finds out, and there's complete anarchy.
Eh it's an old concept that's been beat to death and beyond in books/movies. Just need to add a twist to make it interesting, then you'll have a new hit on the market.
